Default Sort Code issue

Hello, my original ebay account unfortunately got suspended. That account is linked to my PayPal Account where I linked with my usual Bank current account. Is it ok to use the saving account of the same bank for the stealth ebay account (the current account and saving account share the same sort code but different account number)? Many thanks

Theres no way for paypal to link bank accounts based on the routing number. Youre good to go.

Literally thousands of people will have the same sort code, it's not a problem.

I have had Santander accounts from three different branches and they all use the same sort code. One account in Wales, one in the NW and the other in the Midlands. I only noticed this when sorting out old statements.

It may well have changed now as I closed the old accounts a few years ago.

I have not come across this with the other banks.

But to say millions of customers of the same bank all have the same sort code is, as we know, completely incorrect.

If you're interested in sort code allocation it can be found here:

https://bank-code.net/uk-sort-code/b...ntander-uk-plc
These were current accounts.

It still does not matter though as it is the account number that is important even though banks have been reported as recycling closed account number and re-issueing them to new customers, the same way mobile phone companies do.

The OP should not worry about the sort code.

Same sort code is fine but you need a different account number

Santander do not use sort codes based on localisation, they use them based on product and cycle after periods of time. For example one year they used 09-01-26 for current accounts, then after a year or so 09-01-27 and so on. So no not everyone at the same branch will have the same sort code.

Most other banks base sort code on branch location (or centralised location) where the account was physically opened.

Either way, same sort is not an issue and savings account work great.
