Default Order Cancelation Request?

Hello there.

Last night I got a sale in 22:56 and after two minutes (22:58) I got an email for Order Cancelation. I saw both notifications in the morning, tried to contact the Buyer but he is not answering.

"Total refund to buyer
$169.99
Transaction amount
Purchase price $149.99
Shipping $20.00
Fee creditsShow details -$29.29
Refund amount you owe
$140.70
How you’ll refund
Your funds

Apply: $110.86
Ending in 5480
Change
Charge: $29.84"

The problem is that eBay will charge my credit card for 29.84$ because someone "bought my mistake" or he changed his mind... This is not fair..

What should I do, I didnt ship the item yet. Should I accept Cancelation Request?
How do You guys handle this type of situation?

Hi,

eBay did not charge anything, it's only show like this because you don't have enough money in balance and they charge from your card. The problem is they take sale tax after canceliation you get all money to eBay balance

I think you dont understand the problem here.

I know ebay did not charge anything...

But they will charge if i accept cancelation.
That is basically screwing the Seller (In this case me) because of some Buyer changed his mind in 2min.. And i have to pay for the fees.

My question is how to handle this situation, accept or ship the item.
I dont want to pay 30$ for someone who changed his mind in 2min...

I always charge a 10% cancellation fee from now on and I specifically put it in the description.

I had to many buyers do this literally minutes after they buy.

Usually, it is for stupid reasons why they put the cancellation.

yes,how do you charge 10% when they have received nothing.
You can charge a restocking fee if they return the item due t o buyer remorse.
I recall Paypal will keep its fee when an item is returned .

I dont think you have a choice of accepting or refusing, like the other said, you get nothing,so do not ship the item

you paid nothing, like the other said,Ebay fully refunded her,as if nothing has happened.
check your own bank account or MP account.

How can he not have enough money in balance?
IT HAPPENS IN 2 MINUTES,if that amount has gone to his account,he wont even know or have time to do anything with it.
with MP,he would have to wait for MP to deposit the money in his bank account.
why dont you ask Ebay to clarify this.
But please do not ship anything ,unless you want to play Santa Claus.
The sales tax should be refunded at the same time from Ebay

do you have a negative balance in your Ebay account?before this order?

You know who would know,Ebay seller forum

if a buyer cancels too many times,he could lose his buying privilege.

I dont even know seller can choose not to cancel.
But knowing those Ebay bottomfeeders, they probably find a better price elsewhere ,thats why they want to cancel,If you refuse and ship the goods, they will find an excuse to return it.
I will just agree to cancel. and relist

No, you dont have to pay 30$ for cancelation, you get full refund

You dont have money in your balance, that's why show charge 30$, it's eBay fee's and you get full refund, because you not make sale and did not send items

Yes, he got money only for item and eBay charge him the fee. That's why when he accept cancelation, it show they need charge eBay fee from his bank, but when he accept cancel request eBay refund fee too

Yes I think it is similar to Etsy. If a buyer cancels, the account balance may show negative for a while, eventually it will balance and the net fees and charges will be refunded. Net result: no fees or charges for buyer or seller, as no transaction took place. I know my promoted listings and other fees have been refunded as well in these cases.

It's simple. Cancel the buyer cancellation then refund yourself. Deduct the 10% and it is done.

There is no charge except listing fees at most, when a buyer requests a cancellation. The charge could be automatically processed since you had a zero or negative balance, however there is no FVF on a buyer requested cancellation.

Have you ever had the fee implemented? As in a buyer accidentally buys and does get hit with your fee? I'm intrigued that this hasn't caused you problems

There is no such thing as a DIY cancellation fee lol. The only partial refund / discount you can remove from the sale is if the item is returned in a condition different than was sent. That too, if the buyer calls ebay and argues, ebay will pay them the percentage that you docked.

If a buyer requests a cancellation minutes or hours after purchase, when still opted to click the cancel order button, the seller has to approve or deny and if they deny, it is recommended but not required to upload a tracking number right away, as for the reason why it was denied.

If it was possible to dock a cancellation fee and a seller did, that would be the easiest negative i ever left.

Do you usually accept cancellations? If not do buyers ever give you negative feedback or try return the item?

It is not a good idea to charge 10%,these buyers usually find a better price than yours,so if you piss them off, they will retaliate

Ebay do not charge a cancellation fee to the seller, they refund the buyer in total and any fees that charge to you for the sale is refunded, as for a cancellation fee, it is not allowed in their terms and conditions and there is no way to charge it when you agree to the refund. If you put a notice in the listings that you charge a cancellation fee you will probably have the account permanently suspended.
