Ending Auctions From Dec. 24 - Jan. 2nd

Just wanted to ask everyone if there sales decrease from Dec. 24th - Jan. 2nd. I know most people are usually with friends and family during this time of the year, so not sure if they will be in front of there computer bidding on items. I use 5 day auctions for all my items, so I don't want to list any items that will end on the 25th or 30th if I won't make much profit.

It was my experience when I was an ebay powerseller and the tracking I did for the 6 years I was selling that MOST people do not sell on the holiday actual date. So, you can think of it in two ways. No one is buying OR, you're the only fish in the pond. It was my exprience to list a cursory amount of items on the holiday DAY and I always sold it for what I wanted. Let's not forget we are in a world society of hand held access to the internet; many are with family they can't stand; people are greedy looking for a bargain and, if you are one of the FEW, they you have a better chance of selling your item. Like I said, I only listed a few items...early in the morning when people are getting up and looking to distract themselves from their surroundings, and late at night when they have had the holidays UP TO THEIR EYEBALLS and need a feel good fix.

I stop and close up pretty much for the last 2 weeks of the year. Seems all the snot nose brats have nothing more to do than come visit my shop. I think they are out early this year.

I was wondering this, too. Another seller told me having auctions end of the 26th work well for them since people where holding out on buying items that they expected to get as gifts. If they don't receive those items on Christmas, they use their Christmas money to buy it the day after since that's what they really wanted.

That's the plan I was sticking with, but I probably won't list as much as I normally do.
