Default Sub 90% feedback

Since last year I have been doing a study of sellers I know will eventually get suspended based on what they sell, and patterns of behaviors. I am also doing this to see how they react to negative feedback, and their change of business practices following problems.

One seller in particular is a Chinese seller who is sending his product to USA and somehow processing shipments from an American address. I know a few in my category doing this. His account is from 2022 but last holidays his sales grew considerably and he didn't know how to manage the negative feedbacks, kept listing the same products, and so now his feedback is 89%.

I am kinda shocked how much eBay is letting this seller get away with. His return ratio must be over 10% right now.

I don't have evidence to support this, but would most here consider once you have below 90% feedback, your account is basically toast?

I am predicting by next valuation he will receive a MC011, especially considering he'll receive at least one more negative putting him at 87-88%. For seasoned sellers I can't remember selling below 85% last long, have any of you?

I'm thinking the magic number is 90% = MC011 upon next valuation.

He had 91% the previous valuation and somehow still receives sales from people saying his stuff is authentic when it clearly isn't and has 20+ feedbacks saying the contrary. Regardless the account is too far gone, and non repairable. It's only a matter of time. Watching sellers like this also reminds me how lax eBay policy is towards issues, they care most about defects, INRC, and VERO. You can piss people off much as you like, for a very long time before getting a MC011 from it.

There are 2 outfits in CALIFORNIA which stock Chinese goods,all the Chinese sellers have to do is list these items and have them ship the items.
I dont know why he is eating negs as these warehouses are usually well stocked and serve their Chinese sellers well.
This Chinese seller probably have more than one seller accounts.

I don't know why you think feedback is so important , unless you run ebay accounts registered in third world countries

for sellers from usa/uk/germany feedback has little to no significance , maybe apart from potentially less people buying from them or paying less for their items

I disagree with most things you say.

The reason I was watching this is human behavior. Once a certain amount of feedbacks became negative, everyone else who likely was even slightly upset follows the rest, and begin leaving negative feedback.

The account was selling the same stuff since 2022. He survived 2022 holidays, and 2023 holidays. Once you enter the point of no return, which I consider that account having done, its only a matter of time until he gets suspended.

If you have 90% feedback and are selling at least lets say 100 items a month, you're going to have a high return rate. The biggest key difference from an account with 100% feedback vs 90% is you are going to attract customers who look for problems vs overlook problems. Its practically impossible to fix the account because you need a ratio of positive feedbacks vs negatives that cannot be had, unless sales are diluted which he isn't doing.

Learning from other peoples mistakes or how they handle issues is a lesson learned without you having to experience it yourself. And also reminding myself how important it is to not take for granted my account.

I do look at seller feedback,too many negs usually have t o do with late shipment,no shipment,no response to buyer inquiry,sloppy packaging,wrong item .
It tells me the seller does not have merchandise in stock,his suppliers are not reliable and he is understaff to run a business .
So I will not buy from him,there are plenty of other sellers selling the same .

Chinese sellers get away with everything. The little sellers not so much

Seen so many ⊗⊗⊗⊗ watches from brands such as citizen and they have sold dozens. If i did that my account would go in to meltdown

if the metrics are good they can continue selling with bad feedback , they may of course be suspended but that would need bad feedback to translate into bad metrics

it works the same way as with sick people , you see their symptoms but do not know what they have so you assume they are going to die , some will certainly die , some will not - this depends on factors you do not know about because you do not have access to that information

about the feedback, I've seen decade old sellers with feedback of 84%
Their feedback is in the 5 digit and some in 6 digit.

They are still selling to date.

the problem of the OP is they are narrowing down their conclusions to specific situations with specific types of items and I can not say it is not true but I am interested in the overall system , I had problems with feedbacks frequently , on some accounts I even had 0% for a while and this with good metrics

To understand this knowledge tells you a lot about what eBay actually tolerates and what it does not. To me it's valuable understanding of the system, and it works best compared with others in the same category you sell in.

If you have stealth perfected, do mass returns cause unexpected MC011? I don't think so. Unless you get over 15%, which should never happen. If you get over 5% INRC opened though, I'm fairly confident the account will get restricted. How do you know this though unless you're doing this a long time?

So what exactly is the fear of operating a large account? There isn't much other than preventing VERO strikes, and improperly managed sales spikes when you've aged your account enough. Otherwise eBay minds it's business.

That's my conclusion to eBay I've come to see.
