Default I just dont understand selling limits.

I am starting to get frustrated at eBay and the whole selling limit thing. Here's the scenario...

Ok, so there is a particular high end Vero item I sell from time to time but I have a 3-4 a month selling limit on the item, which sucks enough. So I'm online now looking at some of my competitors I'm shocked! There's a seller in NY that is brand new, 0 feedback, just joined on 3/12 with the little beginner symbol by his name and has like 8 of this same item listed. How the heck is that so?

My account is around 3-4 months old with over 50 feedback score, no holds, EVEN HAVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK SELLING THIS PARTICULAR ITEM and I CAN ONLY LIST 4?? What the heck is going on?

He probaly listed them all at the same time. In the past I have had the "limitation" on selling a item. But sometimes if they all get posted at the same time Ebay will let it go through. Also have you tried changing up your listing title? Sometimes you can get them listed that way also.

Honestly , you are not suppose to understand anything about ebay limits and restrictions as they do not want you to understand how to beat the system.

Just don't call ebay and ask for a review.

The question wasn't about understanding the restrictions and limitations, thats not the problem. A selling limit is pretty straight forward. The question was why one person is getting away with listing multiple of the same vero item I am, but I found the answer.

I'd like to know what it is you guys are selling because I've never came across a limit like that before.

No one is going to tell you what they're selling but good try. Most selling limits are seen only on highly regulated Vero items. My guess is you're not selling anything that's highly regulated by eBay.

All designer brands have a 2 limit per month. But that doesn't really affect me that much since I can manage to sell more than 2 after sending out a few msgs to each buyer who offers or sends me a question. A slight trick and you got a few sales for that particular item UNLESS you follow what aking reminded me of through PM.

Yeah you wouldn't want to give up those big secrets of selling those designer labels, software, dvds, electronics, sportswear, jewelry, like we don't already know where to get it all from lol. But yeah I fall under the media category for now and if I do get one of those I just whack crack and hack my listing until it goes through and it does over and over again but that's my own secret.

I have a question about that. The Bay Trust & Safety removed the seller limitation (couldn't sell at all) on my account.

But they mentioned that I couldn't sell DVD's or I'd be limited or suspended again.
yet they told me that I could sell other things

Here's the message. I'm new to this kind of thing so any advice would be highly appreciated.

I've adjusted your selling limits to allow additional activity to take place. Please know that if DVD's are listed, your account may be restricted or suspended. Your new limits will allow you to list a limited amount of ironing boards. If you encounter a limit, you'll need to wait a few days before trying to list more. As you continue to gain positive feedback, we will be pleased to increase your limits and allow more sales at a time.

I guess the question is can they do that limit some things but not others ?

Is this something built into the databass system.

Ironing boards and dvds, who would have ever thought of a combination like that lol. You must be listing alot of dvds on a new account because I've never had that message yet and I sell dvds.

hehehe... I don't really sell ironing boards man I just thought it looked funny

I sell guitars & Dvd's.

The account was from 2006 but I only recently started selling so the account was limited for too much money going through it. Then they did a review and found a couple of DVD's that weren't released yet *smacks head

and that's how I got myself up the creek. It was paypal who limited my account first then it cascaded back to ebay who pulled about 25 listings <<<< I don't think that's too many really. Account was from 2006 and my feedback is currently on around 97 positive @ 98%

But I think they are full of ****e. They make it sound like if the databass detects listings from me with the word DVD I will automatically be suspended.
But I can sell guitars aka ironing boards without question.
