Comcast and public libraries get a free pass? Again weird.

JackNoMore 07-13-2007 03:31 PM

I wonder if it works for educational libraries as well.

You signed up to sell immediately after registering?

JackNoMore 08-22-2007 07:40 AM

From everything I've seen and read here and elsewhere, it's been generally thought that selling on the first day you register to bid is bad. I take it you have had no such experience lately?

Hey, I would obviously like to know how to do this too.
Would appreciate a PM with any info.

There seems to be no consistency in anything that EB does.
Why is it that some times I can make an auction private and then the next time that option doesn't even show up?
I've figured a way around it, but it just points out that on EB what worked and was policy yesterday, won't necessarliy be so tomorrow.

So...just making sure I'm reading you right here...you've not signed up for, registered a seller account, AND started selling all on the same day before... correct?

If I'm understanding you correctly...what you're doing is registering the account--even setting up the seller account--but not selling until the account is over 30 days old. Which seems to be a much safer way to go about it.

Although, would the simple act of adding a CC (or in this case not even having to) to open a seller account be enough for ebay to red flag you? OR would you have to actually LIST before you were red flagged on such an account (under the 30 days)?

Something to consider. Although I'm not sure how you would test this if you didn't have to submit a CC to sell.

I've got a new account set up for about 10 days now and have bid on several items, but not won any yet...on purpose. Just establishing a pettern if I decide to use it for shill-bidding later.
I did not register a CC with it so I haven't tried to sell anything yet.
After learning the things that I have learned here I might just set up a couple more accounts and safeguard them a little better.
I guess I could go to the mall (Simon) and get a gift card before I try to sell on the new account just in case they ask me for one.
If they don't ask, I'll just save it and keep creating accounts until I need it.

Did you have a particular system to this Modee, or just decided to up and sign up and sell one day? Everyone I've heard from says to avoid it. Too much of an attention getter.

Which reminds me...have you had any experience (good/bad/other) with changing your user name and if that draws red flags? I've read that changing pretty much anything on your ebay profile is to be avoided as it attracts attention and maybe the bot. Trying to determine if that's just a rumor.
