Has anyone tried shipping with C.O.D (collect on delivery) to customers? is this allowed by ebay? do customers go for it?

Uncertified personal checks? Setting yourself up for a bad no-no then.

Ya, cod from Canada Post is open to all kinds of issues. And takes forever to get paid. So no real advantage to using it at all
Why do you want to try COD?

Why do you want to try COD? | To avoid paypal obviously, the items i sell are considered high risk and pretty expensive so paypal always gives me problems, I'm doing a few test runs right now, going to see how long it takes to get paid, you can select how the reciever pays so personal checks would not be a problem.
Plus its really easy to just use disposable stealth ebay's when you are doing COD, I just hope customers go for it.

I looked into once for a buyer. If I recall, You can specify how they pay. cash, check, debit, certified check, etc
When they pay cash you get a check or money order from Canada Post
I think I passed on it because it was several weeks to actually get paid. Cant recall. You may find customers that like it, you may find customers that don't.

Exactly, you can select Cash, and they can either pay with that at the door or go and pick it up at their post outlet and pay with cash/debit so its still pretty convenient, from what I understand they cut you a check fast and send it to you by express mail, I just did a trial of a COD from Toronto to Edmonton, I'll report how it goes.

Hmmm. Wonder how many buyers would go for it. As mr888 notes, safe for both parties.
I used to have buyers ask if there is another option as they cant use paypal. But I think non paypal buyers have given up on ebay. But I haven't looked at non paypal for awhile so not very literate in that area.
Problem I see is if Canada Post sends you a money order under stealth name, how would one cash it?

Maybe they just have it as an option in other countries besides the US. I assume if you really wanted to use COD, you could just say that you offer it in the auction itself.

COD can some time mean trouble. Besides, it costs at least $5 more.
I'd want my money upfront before shipping my goods.
