Default Buyer filed complaint after he misread item

A buyer recently purchased a LCD/HDTV PC monitor combo. After he received the item he emailed me saying the the item was not a combo and that he wants a TV with a DVD player in it. I responded saying that the combo is the fact that the monitor can be used as a PC monitor or a TV. Buyer is now saying the item doesn't match the description and that it wasn't new because it wasn't in the original box. I shipped it in a different box because the original box got wet. I have pictures of the damaged box. After another email telling the buyer that the item he bidded on was not a DVD player and TV combo, he filed a complaint with Ebay.

I'm worried that even though I am in the right that Ebay will side with the Buyer.

Especially in this case, what was your return policy? eBay will likely tell buyer to return for refund.

Just take it back and refund. Why make these things so racked with grief? You try and fight buyer you will lose and end up with a negative and still have to refund anyway. So, just have them send it back and refund. Just because buyer is stupid, doesn't mean they are not happy. When a buyer is not happy, take it back and sell it again. So much time wasted arguing with a customer when the end result is almost always the same....

This is the grey area of selling. I've no doubt you are correct. However you have a less than happy customer. Make the customer happy. Avert the domino effect. Resolve, resolve and be a winner

Pod is 100% Correct, Apoligize for the Mistake/Misunderstanding whatever, Take the Item Back, Learn a Lesson, and Move on. I also sell Big Box Electronics and I FEEL You Pain, I Know the Costs involved, But better to go this Route because a Dispute will End up Going this way Anyhow, and you Risk Potential problems with Ebay/Paypal

Not much else to do sadly....

There isn't anyone here, or on ebay, that doesn't wish being "right" was all that was needed... We all get stung. But better to live and fight another day. Its just way too easy for any one little tiny thing to mess up a money making account. Oh how we all wish being right meant something... But the best way to make up for a situation like this is to go on with this account and make $$$. In the end, you win
