Mirene A. has joined this session!

Connected with Mirene A.
23:10:28 Mirene A.
Hello, thanks for waiting and welcome to eBay Live Help! My name is Mirene A. We are currently experiencing an unusual high chat volume. We thank you for holding and we are sorry for the inconvenience. May I have your first name, please?
23:13:08 dfs
Hello
23:13:33 Mirene A.
May I know your name please?
23:13:58 dfs
I need to ask you a question
23:14:14 Mirene A.
Sure.
23:14:44 dfs
Can I accept authorize.net as a payment option when selling on eBay?
23:15:24 Mirene A.
I want to make sure that all your issues are addressed today, just to clarify your concern you want to know if you can use authorize.net as your automatic payment method. Am I correct?
23:16:02 dfs
yes
23:16:16 Mirene A.
I'll be more than happy to assist you with this. Before we proceed to this session, is there anything else you want me to help you with?
23:16:40 dfs
I want to accept authorize.net
23:16:59 dfs
no
23:17:13 dfs
I want to know if I can accept authorize.net as a payment method
23:17:18 dfs
for my customers
23:19:14 Mirene A.
All right, payment method allowed on the site are PayPal, credit/debit card, master card and visa, but autorize.net is not allowed.
23:19:59 dfs
ok what is a credit/debit card, master card and visa?
23:20:06 dfs
can you explain a bit more about it?
23:21:03 dfs
Just to remember my question was how to accept credit card payments from my customers to sell items? I thought I can use authorize.net?
23:22:29 Mirene A.
Once you sell on the site you will be asked for automatic payment method were all your transaction will automatically go under it, for example you have your card on file, that card will be your source of income while selling on the site.
23:23:25 dfs
So ebay will automatically send money to my card?
23:23:37 dfs
When somebody buy an item from me?
23:23:49 dfs
Is that right?
23:24:04 Mirene A.
Yes.
23:25:06 dfs
Well thats great
23:25:22 dfs
So i don't need to do anything I just need to put my credit card on file
23:25:47 dfs
and thats it, I can accept payments for the auctions from my customers directly to my card?
23:26:09 dfs
Is that correct?
23:26:24 Mirene A.
Yes, all the transaction will automatically be directed to your card.
23:27:24 dfs
Are you sure?
23:27:53 dfs
I don't need to signup for some kind of merchant account?
23:28:32 Mirene A.
You may also need to set up or sign up for a seller account and then place your card on file.
23:28:36 dfs
I just heard that I need to signup for some ind of merchant account like authorise.net to accept payments to credit card?
23:28:49 Mirene A.
Once you have done that you may start selling already.
23:30:44 Mirene A.
We have steps on how you can enter your merchant account on your ebay account but it is not under authoreized.net.
23:32:25 dfs
So are you really sure that if I simply put my credit card on file with eBay I will be able to accept payment from my customers for the listings I will make?
23:33:28 Mirene A.
Yes.
23:33:29 dfs
and I don't need any merchant accounts for that?
23:33:54 Mirene A.
Yes.
23:34:00 dfs
Ok another question
23:34:08 Mirene A.
If you want I can give you the steps how you can put your card on file.
23:34:10 Mirene A.
Sure.
23:35:04 dfs
If my customer will open a case against me for some reason and he will request a money from me for his purchase claiming that I didnt send it or it is not as described.
23:35:12 dfs
How can i refund him?
23:35:35 dfs
Will I be able to refund him?
23:35:57 dfs
and how this process goes, the money will be taken from my credit card?
23:36:04 Mirene A.
The system will automatically refund the buyer, and it will be under your account.
23:36:16 Mirene A.
The refund will be deducted on your account.
23:36:36 dfs
so money will be taken from my credit card or they will be show as a negative balance in my account?
23:37:14 Mirene A.
It depends on the balance of your account, since it was automatic payment option.
23:38:00 dfs
Ok another question
23:38:06 Mirene A.
All right.
23:38:45 dfs
When somebody buys something from me the money goes directly to my credit card or first it goes to my account and than later ebay will transfer it to my credit card?
23:40:34 Mirene A.
If someone purchased your item the payment and your automatic payment method is credit card, yes it will be directed to your account.
23:41:15 dfs
so first it appearce in my account, and when I will get the money to my credit card?
23:41:23 dfs
*appears
23:41:39 Mirene A.
All the transaction will be directed to your PayPal account.
23:42:01 dfs
Wait I don't have a paypal account, I was asking about credit card
23:42:24 Mirene A.
*sorry credit card account not PayPal.
23:42:29 dfs
oh ok
23:42:49 dfs
so how fast they trasnfer the money from ebay account to credit card
23:42:59 dfs
once in a month, once in a week?
23:43:27 dfs
i mean monthly or weekly?
23:45:21 Mirene A.
For example buyer purchased an item to you and pay for it, the payment will be on your card within 12 hours.
23:45:36 dfs
oh so it's so fast
23:45:55 Mirene A.
For your selling fees it will be deducted on your card monthly.
23:46:06 dfs
great, so again about refunds
23:46:35 dfs
how can i refund buyer if he have some claim
23:47:14 Mirene A.
For the refund if there is a case filed and there is an option there that you can send a refund, you can offer partial refund or full refund.
23:47:51 dfs
yes but how I will refund the money
23:48:00 dfs
ebay will take that money from my credit card?
23:48:07 dfs
Or it will appear as fees?
23:48:16 dfs
which I later have to pay?
23:48:24 Mirene A.
It will be taken off on your card.
23:48:46 dfs
ok thx now I think I understand this aspects
23:49:13 dfs
one last question
23:49:21 Mirene A.
All right.
23:49:36 dfs
can I offer Google checkouot as a payment option for my buyers?
23:50:04 Mirene A.
I'm sorry but noe, we have our own checkout system.
23:50:14 Mirene A.
*no
23:50:33 dfs
ok and one last question
23:50:51 Mirene A.
Sure.
23:51:03 dfs
even if the amount is $0.99 it will still come to my credit card?
23:51:19 Mirene A.
Is that a balance?
23:51:24 Mirene A.
On your eBay account.
23:51:42 dfs
no if $0.99 is an item price
23:51:53 dfs
somebody buiys this item from me
23:51:53 Mirene A.
Yes, it is still be on your card.
23:52:12 dfs
and after 12 hours the 0.99 will be on my credit card?
23:52:29 Mirene A.
Yes.
23:52:57 dfs
ok thak you so much for information about this, I didn't know that.
23:53:00 dfs
Thank you
23:53:03 dfs
bye
23:53:29 Mirene A.
You're welcome, take care always and have a nice day.
23:53:34 Mirene A.

23:53:34 dfs
oh
23:53:36 dfs
wait
23:53:47 Mirene A.
Sure.
23:54:11 dfs
I forget with this method for buyer to buuy an item he will need to enter his credit card details right?
23:54:42 dfs
I mean he purchased an item and then he will be asked to enter his credit card details to pay for the item right?
23:54:54 Mirene A.
Yes, it depends if they are going to use PayPal or card.
23:55:24 dfs
Well if I don't offer paypal
23:55:40 dfs
they only will have an option to pay by card right
23:55:49 Mirene A.
Yes.
23:56:17 dfs
and ebay have it's own checkout processor to complete this transaction
23:56:21 dfs
right?
23:56:29 Mirene A.
Yes.
23:56:34 dfs
OK thax mate
23:56:43 dfs
that all
23:57:04 Mirene A.
Sure anytime, it's my pleasure.
23:57:13 Mirene A.

and what did you do after that chat?

Did you link your credit card to ebay and make it as the automatic payment system for your listings as well as the default system for paying foor items you purchase?

What it does give ebay is a chance to copy a chunk of your post, search their records and bam! The account you thought was good is now blocked.

I guess I am toooo cynical and paranoid!

Don't worry I didn't had an account when i was asking this. Actually it was eBay chat rep. that didn't know anything about their own system of accepting payment. In reality to accept credit cards I need to have a merchant account at one of these providers:
authorize.net, PayPal Payflow or ProPay.
I need to link my account with one of these providers to my eBay and I can accept credit cards directly as far as I know.
I have contacted soon after that to another chat rep. and he explained this to me, he also said: "I'am sorry for misinformation" when I pointed that their another staff member don't even know how their own system works. She was assuring me that to accept credit cards from my customers I have simply to put a credit card on file and they will transfer money directly to my credit card lmao

Are you going to use Authorize.net as your payment gateway and get paid to your creditcard directly?
Have you already implemented that or you are still willing to do it?
Keep me updated.

I was considering this as a way to sell on ebay until I found out that only US ppl can make authorize.net account, same applies to ProPay. About PayPal Payflow, PayPal says it all, it is paypal and I was searching for a way to avoid paypal at any cost. To be honest the only way I found is moneybookers.

Where do you find that Authorize.net only works for US People?

For Propay, you are right and payflow means nothing to you or me since we need other choices rather than paypal.

I am like you feeling that moneybookers is the only possible easiest way to work in ebay, i have a verified account there and i can enable it to be linked to my Ebay but the big problem we will face is Not all buyers and sellers on ebay have MB accounts so we won't be able to make any good sales with less than 5% MB account holders on Ebay!

Everything is correct, the only way is Moneybookers with less than 5% MB accounts on ebay customers, that is a sad true. The other way is only stealth paypal which is easy to make if you are not US or UK and in UK and US you need a real bank.
So no other options than MB for those who are not US and want to avoid paypal.
Authorize.net only opens accounts for US bank accounts, correct me if I'am wrong?
