In my experience No, Some will say it does but they have no reason other than speculation.

It probably all depends on how much risky stuff you sell and similar issues.

Legit sales with no high risk you are fine. If they have a problme with it they will tell you that you cannot do it.

The only thing you might run into is if there is a rule that you cannot unless you have a certain amount of feedback before you are allowed..

I had a listing removed on a relative new account.... 2 months about 20 feedback and the email from ebay specifically cited... Reason was that private listings are reserved for specific auction types....

Since then I don't do private anymore....

Thats pretty much what I mean. It all depends on what you sell.

I figured either category or items is all that mattered.

It doesn't help in building feedback, she said that's how she get's most of her initial feedback on a new account. Correct me if I'm wrong :D

I don't list many private listings, but I have done so without any problems.

Correct - I sell fast selling cheap items on private listings for feedback. Then change over to the bigger items and wean off the cheaper ones

I did private listings on other accounts too and never had it removed. However my feedback was higher.
Also now that the listing is not private sale price seem a bit higher for same product. Coincidence maybe?

Once you establish your account with say 50 positive feedbacks, i think its ok to start listing your items as private. I do this on all my established accounts so my competitors will not know specifically what Im selling. If you have low feedback scores, I would not recommend this.

Ha this is how I think about what to sell next. All info available, product name, selling price, etc....lol

All thats missing is supplier, but once you know product, then finding supplier not so hard....

OP - private listings are okay. You sound rather new to selling stealth or selling online period. I think you need to learn what is bad and what is good in general and through that knowledge you will have the answers to 60% of the questions out there.

To make your life easier.

Anything electronic is automatically considered "bad"
Anything with a "brand" name is bad

These are general rules of thumbs, especially on new accounts.
