Default seller doesn't respond?

hi.
5 days ago I have won an auction on ebay using my stealth account.
Since I have not enough money in my stealth paypal, I have asked the seller to give me his email so I can send him a direct payment (from my real paypal).
I haven't received an answer. After two days sent the message again, with no answer.
And today he opened a case against me because I haven't paid!
What can I do now? I am not going to write in the case about my stealth account...

This seller is a top-rated seller with over 44K feedback

Worst thing that could happen is that you get an unpaid item strike. If you only have one or two on your account then that is fine, nothing will happen.

Why can't you get funds into your eb-associated pp for the payment?

I hear that - I was thinking of using a credit card to make payment as source.

Well it is possible but I thought that making a new credit card to pay for a 47$ item will not be necessary.
The credit card on the stealth account was a single use VCC.
I have just asked the seller to give me his payment email address. If he didn't agree he could respond and let me cancel the purchase.
He didn't respond at all.
Now I am just asking how should I communicate with him and make him close this case.

You should have thought of all that B4 you bothered to buy.

Sellers may not want to do that, and it's their right if you think about it.

If you want to use stealth accounts, any user should still make sure B4 buying everything will work.

that's sensible

why is asking a seller for his email address an "inane request"?
if a seller accept something besides paypal, he will also have to give the buyer his payment info so the buyer can pay. isn't it the same?

The reason is because someone that has that much sales volume doesnt have time for things like that. there is an ebay email title for everything you will need. A personal email is not needed for the normal transaction.

Those sellers dont answer emails most of the time anyway. Yes its a bad way to do business and those people probably have bad DSR's for communication

Well maybe not. seems every time I see a huge seller that just states that they dont have time for emails so use checkout, etc its just irritates me because some times their DSR's are still near 5.0 in the communication category. Not sure how.

My general "rule of thumb" is that if i have stated my payment terms and someone comes in asking for alternatives, i am suspicious as to whether or not the person is trying to scam me.

I believe this is why they have a "payment method" section that i have to fill in when making a listing...I specified how i will take payments...

If i were open to alternate payment plans (including, processing overpayments and refunding the difference, LOL) i would list them upfront.

With all the scamming going on, i am very suspicious when anyone wants to "go outside of the box" when it comes to payments and shipping.

Disclaimer: OP, i am no way trying to say you were attempting to scam the seller here, i am just posting the attitude i have when encountering this type of situation.

I understand, but from what I know the seller's protection still applies even if the payment was sent outside of the ebay checkout, as long as it was sent on paypal (and marked as a payment for goods and not a personal payment).
So what danger exists here that doesn't exist in the regular ebay checkout?
scammer buyers who open a case and lie that the item didn't arrive \ arrived DOA can do the same even on a regular payment and they will still be refunded unfortunately.

i believe that the buyer's/seller's protection policy is ebay's/paypal's ill-fated attempt to install a false sense of security into their system.

what i have learned from this forum,is that in the majority of cases ebay/paypal sides with the buyer no matter what, thus allowing for the 2 scams you have listed.

now, i am sure there a many more scams out there being pulled and new ones being created even as we discuss this issue, so as a seller i am not looking to be the "crash-test-dummy" for scammers. Therefore, as i stated previously, anything outside of my listed terms is looked at from a suspicious eye.

there are plenty of buyers who understand the terms and work within them. as for the few who want to switch it up, they can play their game with one of my competitors. odds are the competitor will lose more money than me from passing on the sale.

Ebay is very patient with people who cannot pay, unless you do it a ton of times I wouldn't worry about it.

Seller may not be prepared to risk his account for off ebay activity.

Just keep in mind sellers might have stealth accounts too

eta: if you used your 'good' paypal for $47, you now linked accounts. Hope that does not backfire

hi.
how could it link the accounts? I haven't used ebay checkout for the payment, instead I have paid from my real paypal directly to the seller's account.

Um....so you tried twice to get the Seller to agree to this arrangement without success. You did not get the permission you were seeking to do this so....

You did it anyhow.

Not sure if this is against Ebays rules or not. You owe the Seller and apology for your disrespect. I'd start there

.

Because that item number now shows your real paypal account was used for payment.

If your stealth account gets reviewed by a real person, that could be detected.

But, hey. you got your $47 item....
