Default Christmas Day Sales

Shut down the auctions thru the weekend and start again on Monday because of the holiday, or let it ride? Your thoughts?

Me, I'm thinking of letting it ride.

I have a lot of people paying me $15 - 30 EXTRA for expedited shipping past few days. One guy offered me $100 overnight shipping for an item I was selling, but I had to decline bc there was no way to ship this overnight lol.

I definitely cut back on selling until after xmas cause I do not want a seller to get a package after xmas and then leave negs.

my package entered customs on Dec 12, 2011 and exited customs Dec 19, 2011 after an 8 Day customs battle I think I'll wait until January.

I enabled vacation settings on all my listings this morning.

Been through it before selling through Christmas, some customers don't understand the concept of shipping times.

Do yourself a favor and stop selling until Christmas day.

I have not had a problem, but the others are right. Some idiot buyer will see that you have a "1 day" processing time and assume that means that the packages are being sent overnight. When it does not arrive by Christmas day, they will nail you to the cross.

I don't put my listings on vacation., but I DO time everything that appeals to children to have ended by Monday. If you are selling toys, games, Disney movies, or anything similar, I would recommend removing them until the 25th or the 26th.

i would pack up till january, unless you really need the cash, i sold quite a few laptops just after xmas last year, but i think selling on ebay is a non stop business, and you need that extra break just to relax. good luck in whatever you decide to do

I am one of them but I get tons of "it's for my mom's Christmas present". Its the things I sell.

my fav. was a person who messaged me every 2 hours on the expected delivery day on "where is my item". He payed next day air but it came on the 2nd day. The guy lives out in some small IL town. In the end at least he gave me a positive feedback.

This is my first Christmas year selling on EB so its all new to me. Next year I am shutting down sooner then later. Who ever said the morons only come out during Christmas was right.

This is the EXACT reason I close up shop about a week BEFORE Christmas.

This for some time off? Or do you generally have issues with buyers that buy the next few days?

I'm bagged, its been a crazy few weeks. But I was curious what sales are like 24th-26th. People are flush with xmas cash. Would love to chill for a few days, but damn I'm greedy

Tons. But not from the last minute buyers. I emailed every one saying it was too late and for them to confirm they still wanted order. I have been hit with tons because customs in the US this year is crazy slow. 8-10 days on tons and tons. I have a lot of dissapointed xmas shoppers this year, and they bought early :(

I stop selling on the 20th for these reasons:
A) Take some time off for the Holidays
B) So I don't have to listen to the dumbass buyers asking "Where is my package?" a hundred times a day.
C) So I do not get negs because their packages did not arrive by the 24th. (Even though they bought it on the 23rd)

Same here, I ship out all my remaining sales the week before Christmas and chill until the next year. Too much headache involved with idiot buyers who complain they didn't get their goods before Christmas when the auction ended a day before...

My complaints are relating to items purchased between 10th and 17th December.

Just had an Item Not Received case from a US buyer (I'm in UK) that purchased an item on 13th December. He seemed to be under the impression it would arrive in 3-4 days. I had to refund as I did not send it tracked. The unit cost of the item does not justify paying for a tracked delivery service. I could have dragged it out but what's the point. The buyer had the usual low feedback and broken English.
