buyer wanted to return the item and sent me an empty envelope.

so i sold a iphone 4s on ebay couple weeks ago. after the guy received the phone he claims that phone constantly lost the signal which never happened before. so he opened a dispute and i accepted to give him a refund when i received it back. and couple days later, he sent me an empty envelope with tracking number and he also put a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address with no name on it. it says the postage was paid in CA but he put GA for his address with p.o box and it wasn't p.o box when i sent the item. so i called ebay and told them what happened, and now the dispute is on hold. my question is what is going to happen next? it's pretty clear that either of us can't provide any evidence, well, i still have the empty envelope with matching tracking number which the buyer put up on the dispute, but when i called ebay, they told me that it's not going to help because people can just make up their own evidence or something. what should i expect now on?

Expect to lose the case, but hope for the best.

Be sure and keep in contact with eBay via telephone conversations, the more the better.

You best hope is that the buyer has tried or done this with another seller and eBay has a record of this. It would also be in your favor if your buyer is new and unestablished as a buyer.

If it happens to be that you are a new seller, then fully expect the case to go against you.

The forum can't be of any more help to you, because it teaches fraud tactics to others.
