Handle Ebay Returns On Stealth?

Hi,

Just a quick question, how do you guys handle returns on stealth accounts? As obviously you cant just give them your address if it has been banned in the past?

Cheers

Always best to use addresses that you have access to.

Use an account that has a proper accessible address.

Or price your items to take into account a refund once in a while without the buyer having to return the item, or offer them a 50% refund if they want to keep the item or similar.

I know the easy answer is to use an accessible address but not sure I have one.

the 50% idea is good.

That not the 'easy' answer.

It leans more to a sensible answer.

Few businesses can factor too many refunds. Of course, they are needed but for the sake of doing some extra work to have an accessible address it seems pointless.

Stealth accounts are as proper as regular ebay accounts. They need that extra 'touch'

Open up a PO box or a suite/street address and use it only for returns?

cortex 10-25-2012 06:22 AM

There is a FAR easier way.

I ask for their email address.

I send them a Refund&Return Form attached in the email and say its from my supplier and the item should be returned to the address on the top of the form.

I have my home address on the Form and pretend to be the main supplier.

As im the "main supplier" theres no trouble coming to me. Im not the one selling on ebay. The guy they bought it from (the stealth account) is one of my many customers.

Unless they google map you and see a house with a guy swimming in the backyard pool.

cortex 10-25-2012 08:46 AM

All paid for by the profits of my many sole-traders who resell on ebay.

dom03 10-25-2012 06:03 PM

I have been asking people to ship the item back to my real address, via ebay messages.

Is this a huge concern...?

The accounts recently been abandoned due to some "disputes" - waiting to see what happens now. :d

The sending of return address is better via e-mail not via eb ay messages. I like the Returns and Refund Policy of cortex

UPS and FedEx give you option to create return once you created shipping label.
They only charge once it uses. Return address on shipping label and on Return label match, buyer would have no concern.
This is for US, I don't know if it is available in UK.

this is definitely not advisable as you are basically asking the customer to return it. most people do not return out of laziness, i am not trying to make the process easier. if something was my fault, i take care of it fully but that doesn't happen often

How does this work if ebay message system blocks email addresses? Their system is getting smarter BTW! I recently tried to hide my email in a message and they sent me a warning.

cortex 10-26-2012 06:51 AM

^ Forget ebay messaging service. It works because, as I said, I EMAIL them. I ask for their email address or I can get their email address from paypal.

You cant type an email address into ebays messageing system, it blocks you now. The buyer wouldnt beable to send you their email address.

You get it from paypal then? Forgot about that.

rsot 10-26-2012 07:08 AM

Yes you can get it from pp or you can ask the buyer in order to prepare a return slip - tell them that

cortex 10-26-2012 07:50 AM

Yes you can get it from pp and then you ask the buyer to complete a Refund&Returns form and send a copy along with the item.

In the form have them write things like their user ID, the user ID they bought it from. Makes it easier to find which stealth account they bought it from which can be a headache if youve got hundreds of stealth accounts to sift through.

Think about it. Then put your thoughts into action.

Ebayorbust 10-26-2012 09:19 AM

If you need to put an email address into ebay messages do it as:

nobby(dot)nobrot(at)gmail(dot)com

Even the most moronic of ebay buyers can get the gist.
