Default Ebay Eventually Asking for Receipts even if Stealth?

Hi,

I've been using a stealth account for the past 5 months and everything has been going well. I started off with a selling limit of 10 items per month and currently have a selling limit of 40 items per month.

I've been selling 5 to 8 items per month consistently. Though Ebay has raised my limits, I'm beginning to wonder if Ebay will ever ask me for receipts? Since I have a selling limit of 40 items a month, I would like to increase the amount of items I am selling, say 10-15 items a month. Any thoughts? Thanks

Nice one.

ebay has a habit of asking for receipts at any stage of the life of an account.

Having receipts is part of the seller proving to ebay/paypal they are OK.
Solution is to have them & provide them when asked.

I have sold over 50,000 items on over 100 accounts over the past years and have never been asked for receipts a single time. Is this a US thing only ?

No, it is not.

USA, UK AUstralia & some European countries request receipts from sellers.

Singapore & Thailand have been there too.

I got asked to provide recipts after just 1 sale and having 3 items listed, as per my other thread.

I just made up 3 recipts from local companys (to my stealth) that I found on the internet... And they accepted them.

If you provide receipts from a retail outlet that would show you were selling at a loss, would that raise a red flag or does EB just want to see the paper, not caring about my profitability?

I would see it raising a flag - alter it a bit

They can and will ask for receipts at any time so be prepared.

Your headline even if stealth?

Does not matter, even solid real accounts get this.

I use my real account that is ages old and once in a while they will ask for them.

Provide them what they need and move on.

So do they ask for a receipt fom a supplier?

Do they ever try to contact the supplier?

I`ve sold thousands of items and was never asked for receipts. Then again I rarely list new items - mostly refurbs. So begs the question, are they trying to find out if items are stolen or drop-shipped. Prolly both I suppose.

Neither. I was asked for receipts and I told them I have none. I have no suppliers or vendors, I sell Ebooks (done manually via PDF format).

That was with Paypal not Ebay.

They eventually allowed me to continue selling.

OK... I stand corrected. Stolen, drop-shipped, or risky.

ebay just asked me for receipts and documents out of no where about 3 weeks ago for the first time after selling for over 5 years with top rated real accounts that all have 100% positive FB.

They put my accounts on hold until I provide these receipts. Problem is the receipts I have are from online liquidation sites and all the receipts only say the name of the auctions, how many units, total price and shipping info but no details of products.

Will this be enough info for them or do I need more detailed receipts. Any info, advice or help would be highly appreciated.

Yes. Depending on what they want, they can/do ask for supplier info

Yes. Been reported calls have been made.

Matter of thinking outside the box from the moment the account is created.

Anything different about the items that would have triggered this? From what you say acct status is irrelevant so must be something deemed risky about the product.

Then again, this is ebay we are talking about so maybe they just ask the magic 8 ball which accts to flag.

Correct.

I had a supplier tell me that ebay called and asked if they had a customer named Sandy D and did they recently purchase xxx.xx? They told them that is private info but yes Sandy is a customer of ours.

I also had eb call an antique auctioneer once when I purchased a ton of items. Could thing I sold most of it on my real account.

Ebay believes they have the right to dig onto your personal life and everything you do and ask questions and demand answers from suppliers.

They are getting pretty bad at thinking they own everything and everyone and everyone should bow down to their demands.

I completely agree with you Sandy... Ebay does think they own the world... So if I send ebay the receipts they want which has the phone # and address of the online distributor I purchased from and they give away my information than I can sue the distributor for invasion of privacy?

That would be impossible to prove.

You would have little chance of resolution.

Speak to ebay. Ask for an accounts manager. Have all your info ( for that one account). Discuss with them your selling plan & offer a selection of invoices.

It really depends on what you're selling and how many of the item you're selling. If you're selling something extremely risky in large quantities at a loss, they will suspend you.

Binary is correct.

Everyone on this board should realize the risk factor in selling high risk items.

It it looked at in so many ways and is one of the most important things you must manage correctly or you will be sniffed out by the ebay bots

I would much rather sell those 50 items and have no eyes on my items then those 400-500+ items that everyone will be looking at.

Bear in mind, ebay has a business-mind mentality.

OK, its staff may let the side down.

ebay has profit & loss expectations. It wants its sellers to be making them money.

Any seller operating on a losing plan, is going to be flagged.

Simply because there might be danger for ebay.

Should there be claims/refunds & no money in the seller's account, ebay carries the refund.

Kindness is not their motto.
