Default How to give a current listing a temporary "sale" price?

I see sellers give a temporary "sale" price on their listings. It shows the original listing price with a line through it, and the sale price below it. It also says something like the sale is for 5 more days, etc. Then back to the original price.

I can't figure out how to do this for the life of me.

You can only do this when you have a store subscription, do you have one if you do here's a tutorial: http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/items_on_sale.html

Thank you. I do not have a store, so no wonder I couldn't find it.

Now I guess I have to decide if I want a store?

I think for 14.99 it's worth it, Sold page is alot easier to use, and the sale option works extremely well with my account.

Agreed. $14.99 isn't much at all, but I feel like subscribing to a store on a stealth account may just put you more under the spot light than you want to be.

Well now you got me wondering, but why would they care it's additional income to them? Maybe someone more experience can chime in?

I think you just need to look deeper into this. For one your now giving them a reason to call you due to the change on the account and this call can be just the friendly thank you for subscribing. But keep in mind this change still causes attention to your account and also can lead to the manual reviewing of it. If your account is solid and everything can check out then I think you should be fine. Then again there is no certainty with them.

If you don't see much of a sales advantage or the account is fairly new then I would stay away at the moment, just my opinion tho.

You need to maintain 60 separate listings a month to break even on the store price.

Anything less, then you lose money. More than 60 listings will save you money on what you would have spent on the listing fees.
