Default Better record your IPs when making new accounts

Hey guys , it seems eBay is trying out new methods to verify accounts. I just got a MC999 on one of my relatively new accounts. Not a big deal since I gotten those before. I got all the info for that account in front of me and called eBay. The rep told me on the phone to

" Open a internet browser and go to the website whatismyip.com and tell me your IP address."

I asked her why and she said she need to make sure the IP is the same one from when I created the account. Since I probably had reset my account at least twenty times, I knew for sure they wouldn't match. The good thing is that I'm so anal about eBay I kept a record of all my IP address for different accounts in my google doc just so I can avoid accidentally logging into mulitple steal from the same IP. So I just just went to my record, told her the first IP listed under that account. She then lifted my account restrictions. So y'all better write down IP address when making new accounts

I had it happen to me when I bought a new computer. A couple accounts I had to call on and they also asked me for my ip address. I alway's just switch my mac address, I don't ever log all my ips I don't really have time for that. I have set mac numbers for each stealth account and I trust that it works pretty good. It hasn't done me wrong in the few years I've been stealth.

It's already suggested to keep a log of your IPs anyways...but I haven't heard of them actually calling and saying hey give me your IP address or you'll remain limited.

So what happens if you say you use a 4g usb for your internet because you cant get internet where you live? I wonder if this would be acceptable for them, it would be a valid reason.

this is kinda silly......

if you use a 4G dongle as your main means to connect to the internet you'll never get the same IP twice.

hell broadband and DSL will even move every once in a while.... the users of the world and running on Static IP address.

I think eBay will just use other verification methods if the IPs don't match. It would be ridiculous for them to assume people don't travel, switch Internet companies, switch modems, or suffer some kinda of power failure that requires a modem reboot. The IP thing is just a shortcut since they didn't ask me anything about the info on the account after they verified my IP.

I honestly dont keep track of any IP address and never had this happen to me, maybe not yet anyways. I make sure that when I am switching accounts I switch my IP address on my phone by "airplane mode" method.
