The list is a nice idea however things are never that simple. It is mostly selling things as new on these categories which make them high risk.

Good list there - true for most but a lot depends on the items sold too

Not even close, notice it doesn't mention a single eb motors category.

They probably look for keywords also, but I have never seen a list of those.

I think it was in an eb email or FAQ, but I can't find it now. I went to the Customer Support tab and searched and I can't find it now.

Default Just tried to list my personal Burberry jeans and got a warning

I just tried to list my personal used Burberry jeans that I bought before Syms closed. I was warned that it would be flagged for being counterfeit and that I better be sure they are authentic. Crappe I can't do that. I don't want to risk anything on this stealth acct. But my question is how does one sell their personal used items on eb? I don't think people keep receipts for over 2 years and now adays who could read it after that long? I think this is getting real stoopid.

I agree with Slim. You can sell used in most cases in these categories as long as it is not a top of the line name brand item you put into the headline.

If you are around long enough, you learn it is the product, brand, picture, listing description, etc that is "high risk", and you know for the most part what can cause issues

The last time I tried to put an Adidas jacket on eb and did not put the name I got a category ban. Instead of Adidas I put designer. It wasn't an hour and bango no more selling in clothing. It was a jacket I bought on clearance at Ross and had fresh receipt. There is no sense to all this. Yesterday 2 sold item had $ clearnce dates for 10/6 today 1 says 4/10 both shipped same day, same method. Both still in transit. Another the funds were immediately available when it's new acct. WTF?

It is all based on your track record, the information you do or do not provide etc. Personally I have bought plenty of second hand goods for pennies, and sold for $40-$100 each with no issues. I do not know anything about your account, and your history, but when I first open new stealth accounts, I hit up the thrift stores, and buy around 20-50 NAME BRAND items just to sell and get feedback. I list all brand names, styles, etc. I take about 10 pics of each, and provide a clean, clear, and readable description. Done this for about 10-20 accounts, as well as countless friends and other paying customers and NEVER had an issue.

I guess you are talking to me. I did this today even pictured 2 holes in the pants and described but got this really crazy warning that it would be flagged if I continued. Make sure they are authentic and prove it. Man, thay are 2 years old and used. I'm crazy not stoopid. I cancelled it. I've had more trouble for less. NO THANKS. This stuff got me so crazy scared I am thinking of quiting because I am not sleeping. Once my inventory is gone anyways.

Most of the time it has nothing to do with the name of the item for a category ban.

I do this almost every day.

Either from thrift stores, yard sales or the multiple antique and collectible auctions I attend or buy from weekly.

Build 100s of solid power seller accounts doing this.

What I remember that happened was I had reached a limit for items because i had sold a bunch 5 prs. of new Nike socks that I bought on clearance at Marshalls so I listed the jacket without a brand name.

That's how I actually got started selling. I take public transportation so the yd sale thing is out. I was having fun shopping and bought stuff in my size that I liked so if got stuck it was ok. Saw a mother load of $15 Nike socks that were selling for $4 @ Marshalls. Sold on eb for $12 + $2 frt. I was happy. Did not know there were catagory limits because I had 100/5000.

Thus the reason to have many accounts spreading out sales and not having to worry about category limits.

Sometimes those large limit accounts wont work if you sell in a category limited area and have the same type of item in quantity.

This is how to sell, lots of pictures and detail is the most important thing when it comes to ebay
