With the new final value fees, are ebay stores worth it?

Now that the final value fees were raised to a flat rate of 10%, I was wondering what others think about ebay stores? These seems to be a lot of savings on the FVF. Who's going for it? And how to know if it will be worthwhile to you?

Gamefreak 04-02-2013 09:39 PM

im surely going for it. my current FVF is 16-18% so thats huge savings

zoneout 04-02-2013 09:44 PM

I thought stores were 10% too? They are lower???

Just got a store on my main account. Probably going to end up getting them for all my stealth accounts. I don't see any negatives in having a store. Less money is good, no?

Gamefreak 04-02-2013 10:41 PM

less money is GREAT... means fatter wallet for you

user3657 04-03-2013 06:58 AM

Yikes! I didnt even know about this. This changes everything for me since I sell mostly computer stuff....10% is alot, and im not sure if 15$ is cost effective for every stealth....

Threads like this are the basis of the forum's ideals.... to help sellers be back on ebay to their best advantage.

So whats your opinion in this?

Getting a store can be good but, is it for all sellers?

I'm curious how it is so high (16-18%)?

Speeder33 04-03-2013 01:07 PM

can you pay the 15/month from paypal? that would make things a lot easier

golden_monkey 04-03-2013 01:34 PM

well i never did a store because you lost you 50 free listings.

me being full time 100% auction i had no need for this... but now, you keep the free listings + the listing cost drops + lower FVF . my numbers say get a store.

km018 04-04-2013 06:59 PM

I don't know if it will save me money yet. But I do go away for weekends quite often. The convienance of setting an "away" status and putting items on sale might help me make the jump anyway.

vogeltron 04-05-2013 01:45 AM

Anyone know a prepaid card that you can use that will register with eBay? Would love to open a store on a few accounts. I use to use Simon Giftcards all the time but they stopped working for eBay about 3 years ago. They still work great for PayPal but eBay rejects them.

stevesokol21 04-06-2013 03:24 AM

hey guys please tell me how to go about putting a card on file with ebay for the stores. i have many accounts and all with benefit highly. i will prolly save about $2k a month doing the stores.

when you put the card on file with ebay, do they take that money off of the card every month for the store or is it just billed to your monthly total with the rest of your fees?

let me know because i want to get this set up ASAP but im unsure of those things.

please help and answer back.

thanks a lot

steve

No you can by PayPal. I just don't which cards you can add to eBay anymore. Like I said above I used Simon Visa Cards for years. But in like 09' they stopped working for eBay. Still work on PayPal though.

stevesokol21 04-07-2013 06:57 PM

so they just bill it to your account like the fees then? so i just need to add an ebay VCC?

golden_monkey 04-07-2013 10:22 PM

they just bill it like fees.

apr 16th i'll be in store land.. OooOooOOOOooo

mercurial333 04-07-2013 11:02 PM

This not so good news for backup accounts, basically those that get used less.

Signed up as well on my main account. Will have to see about others.

why isnt it? just pay for it by month if you need it. your backup accounts should still be somewhat active anyways. you always want to be selling something on them.

Sandy D 04-08-2013 08:17 AM

If you have multiple stealths to sell on and move a lot of products then for me a store is a waste.

I want to move product and run my auctions to keep a very high sell through rate so for me I only use it on my main legit account because I want to keep it active all the time without having to list constantly.

I work hard in building new baby stealths all the time and rotate lots of other accounts so no need for a store.

If you only run a few accounts and have product that is or has been slower to sell toss it into a store and list some newer things to test.

It has been mentioned above about the 50 free listings as well.

Just have to make decisions based on what is best for you.

slim jim 04-08-2013 03:34 PM

It also depends if you sell in the categories where you get a discount. I think this will ultimately be the game changer

Really? Was about to dump some stuff around the house on an account. Am I supposed to sign up a for store now? Duh.

incniu 04-08-2013 08:59 PM

store = more selling = paypal asking for tax id = doomed

also, store = more selling = more fee for ebay = more listing = higher ebay stock price

km018 04-08-2013 09:19 PM

why is more selling a bad thing? Sorry if a stupid question.

more sales = more potentional sales, so if you don't get asked for tax id on an early stage, you will be asked once you reach $20,000 OR 200 items.

golden_monkey 04-08-2013 09:59 PM

anyway, just saw the update message again and scratch that 50 free listings every month, they are giving away 150 free listings just with the basic store.. SO DOUBLE YES! :amen:

One account with store - one account with auction listings - vary your listings

Sandy D 04-08-2013 11:15 PM

Everyone has their own ways so the OP has to crunch the numbers themselves to see what is best for them.

Those are the nicer parts of the deal for sure.

The store gives better freedom for 'buyer control'.

:bump:

Would love to know if any gift-cards still work for eBay verification. I know lots of them still work for PayPal but have stopped working for eBay.

Impact 05-01-2013 04:22 AM

One of my accounts had ebay store for awhile without the final value fee changes, but now I have subscribed to ebay store on all of my accounts. Its cheap and saves you a lot of money if you are full active seller on ebay. Good Luck!

km018 05-01-2013 11:38 AM

How do you "name" your ebay store? I'm still on a non-stealth ebay account. In the process of getting some stealths set up for a rainy day.

But my ebay name is the same as my email. I'm wondering if I should change the name or name my store something clever. Anyone have thoughts on this?

Here We Go Again 05-01-2013 01:16 PM

For me it is a easy YES I will now have a store.
The $19.95 cost for the store is MUCH cheaper in the long run.
Final Value Fee withOUT store 10%
Final Value Fee WITH store 9%

That 1% difference can equal $200 - $300 a month for me.
So I will take the store and the lower FVF and continue on with life.

Duster 05-01-2013 02:11 PM

For me, the numbers support getting a store.

Quick question though, a few of my listings occurred right on the edge of the new fee model deadline and eBay charged me the full non-store FVF. Any tips on getting it revised without calling in and trying to explain that to "them"?

stevesokol21 05-01-2013 06:33 PM

but where can i get an ebay VCC at? i need to know because i have no idea. i do not want to buy one off of here. someone help me out please.

Why not just buy one from a seller on here. I bought one the other day and it was delivered in 5 seconds! You know its going to work.
