Not easily done, but it is better than doing nothing.
More sellers should take a stand against this behaviour.
Yea, I always find out as much details as possible. Check to see if it is a confirmed address. Look through the buyers feedback received and left for others to see if the buyer has any history of Shady behavior. Most the time I do whatever I can to argue for my case. My selling history etc. I know I have lost a case like this but I was able to keep the funds under the seller protection. I think eBay does keep track of behavior like this. It is always best to point it out.
