We see these sort of threads literally every year.. As Golden_Monkey pointed out, there IS a pattern of slow sales EVERY year. We are starting the slow season that usually last 2-3 months and then things start to pick up again. Summer time is notoriously slow for most businesses. There aren't a lot of holidays to spur people into buying for no reason, people tend to go outside and relax as the days get better and you have to remember who your customers are.. are they Americans? Are they in the UK, AU? What are these people doing right now? Summer time is approaching, school is ending, people are starting to think about vacations and enjoying the nice weather outside (in most areas).

This is the time to start getting ready for the holidays, research new products, line up suppliers and get ready to crush it when people are buying left and right later this year.

Monday was pretty nice, but it's been drifting slowly. I just want to hit my 1000 QTY sale quote. Perhaps I can use this down time to research some ecommerce options, and shape it up rather than just browse eBay all day. Really thinking hard about shopify.

golden_monkey 05-03-2013 02:07 PM

yea that is how the end of apr started going for me.

i'd have ONE good day.. and the rest junky.. i'd make a small amount of sales and just kept chugging along. then it got to the point where no good days.. and days with ZERO sales.

its a war of attrition for me at this point.... im listing like HELL!!!!!!!! and most of the time 75% of it is just RELISTS  I've never had this amount of live listings ever.

The bubble has to pop right? so when it does i'll be shipping a sh*t ton of items.... until then... my listed stock is ever growing and im running out of room to put things :pop2:

Exactly the same for me. Monday was great but after that it slowed again. I guess it was a rainy day around the world on Monday?

:suspicious:

You know me, I will be up at 5 am to grab those 1.05 items if they are worth at least 100.00 or more.

List away and I will make sure I am up or snipe it while I am asleep.

:pop2:

golden_monkey 05-06-2013 02:35 PM

war of attrition seems to be working...... :amen: hell of a lot of listings but hey, just got my store and i have 150 free.. im using them up as fast as I can.

lets just hope most people pay... should be a good week if so! :pry:

Sandy D 05-07-2013 07:25 PM

Since most of my listings end on Sunday this past Sunday seems to have far more bidders then over the past few weeks.

Hope the trend continues!

GreenBean 05-07-2013 07:35 PM

Steady wins the race.

Changing items around for the seasonal changes about the same time as last year worked too.

Now to pack.
Sighs.

:juggle:

Sausage 05-07-2013 08:51 PM

My sales have shot back up since Monday, post time.

I agree with seasonal items. I have several very good all year round staples that I can happily live of all year round and my seasonal is the cream on the top. :)

100HRWEEK 05-08-2013 01:44 AM

Knock on wood, May has been stellar so far. I hope to reach my selling limit.

rsot 05-08-2013 03:22 PM

I have had to turn down my biz for May - bit of travelling and other work...here's hoping for a decent June

joesshooze 05-08-2013 04:15 PM

So sorry ladies and mens but my market is outdoors so summer is peak & holidays muy bueno too. Last year I got caught short and was new so I could have sold 4X's what I did so this year I'll stock up big time starting end of August. I just gotta pray not to get linked. Am just aging 60 days on 2 accts. and almost 30 on another. Once again a salute to all who reside.

ebabe 05-08-2013 05:37 PM

My sales have been great on ebay, but I mostly sell low price items, under £10.00 My amazon sales have been terible, but those items are all high priced items, £50.00 and above. So it seems that people just dont have alot of money these days to spend.

km018 05-08-2013 06:03 PM

May is already looking much better then April for me.

x2ruff4u 05-09-2013 09:56 AM

Slow sales...hmm. My best advice is Fridays and weekends for any season.

Sales literally dropped around 80%.

It's just so sudden it's shocking.

Same here. It just seems that the standard ending prices for everything have dropped.. People just don't want to pay. I considered changing a few items around and selling some junk just to take a break from the market and returning later.

The bright side is that things have sort of picked up from my last post, although I had other issues with accounts; getting more activity now. Will keep you guys posted.

surcerouche 05-10-2013 09:34 AM

I thought it was just me. I'm an ecrater now. Sales have been slow from Jan til now. They are finally picking back up.

are you saying your sales are higher on friday and the weekends?

slim jim 05-10-2013 08:39 PM

Sales are best when people get their paychecks

golden_monkey 05-10-2013 09:19 PM

argggg pink hair girl and karate kid are making me want to work weekends.

Sandy D 05-10-2013 09:36 PM

I get a ton of action LATE Friday night on auctions.

Used to be when I did a lot of BIN it was Tuesdays and Sundays.

100HRWEEK 05-11-2013 07:25 PM

Quite Saturday today.

Sausage 05-11-2013 08:31 PM

I've had a very good Saturday, which is normally quite for me. I tend to have a Super Sunday - lets see if Sunday lives up to its name or if everyone bought a day earlier.
