Default Maintaining Stealth with High Risk Items

I got banned a while ago and I was able to sign up again but have been only using my new ebay/paypal account for buying for over a year now. I have never sold anything on this account because I don't want to take the risk.

I want to start selling on eBay but I'm not sure if the items I'm dealing with are high risk. Do you guys think I can successfully start up a bunch of stealth accounts selling computer parts and computers? Or do you think these types of items will get me banned really fast. I will start very slow with bidding and browsing history and listing very small items the first month or so but do you think I can successfully sell computers ranging from $600+ on multiple different ebay accounts...

Start slow, keeps buyers happy, get high DSR and pay fees on time. Would take a year or so because it would be safe to list $600 items regularly (or at least that is how long I would wait).

Another option that would hurry the process is buying an aged selling account, depends on your time scale.

thanks! Is it common to have a stealth account and sell $3000 worth of items each month without having to verify the SSN?

also I plan on using my main ebay account with my regular ISP I have now and getting a wireless HOTSPOT from ATT to use mainly with my stealth account.. If my stealth account gets banned for some reason will my main account get banned? I will be using two different computers, two different IPs, two different names, two different bank accounts and credit cards, phone numbers..

I'm just worried about getting my main account banned....

If you are using a wireless ATT hotspot then I think that accounts days are fair numbered. Hundreds of other people could be using the same IP address as you on that hotspot, and half of them could be banned from EB already. Always better to use a service that you control the IP address of.

By the sounds of it the two accounts are link free, so you would be fine.

Thanks for being the first person to help me. If I'm successful with selling on eBay I can give you a massive discount on a mac.

PayPal must report any gross sales over $20,000 and 200 items to the IRS. They will require an SSN or an EIN long before you reach either of those points.

Jeffweico is absolutely right.

They can, and do ask for SSN well before this amount.

PP can pretty much as for it as and when they want, there is no stead fast rule for exactly when they will ask, so always bare that in mind

I sell computer parts, no computers, its my bread and butter item. I dont find it very high risk. On new accounts I can put 10 hard drives for auction and not have any problems. I dont list very much motherboards or graphics cards but to me those are higher risk since motherboards can be phaked. GPUs can also be phaked by installing a BIOS from a different graphics card or from a professional grade graphics cards and sell it for much higher.

**for example, AMD consumer GPU made into a AMD FirePro or nvidia gefore GPU into a nvidia quadro. Its simple to do and can be done without ever the buyer knowing unless they really look for it. When the computer starts up the BIOS even reads Firepro or Quaddro series graphics card, even with software programs like GPUZ reads it wrong. The buyer usually pays 5-10 times more than the consumer GPU.

I'm not a U.S seller, but how or where did you hear that?

The IRS... All 2012 sales over that amount needed to be reported by ANY payment processor. That includes PayPal, merchant accounts and any website that takes payments for 3rd party sellers. So, Amazon and Half.com are also included.

Of course, this applies in the USA only.

We pay attention to what paypal says and what they release in news reports.
Payment processors are now obliged by law in the USA of meeting federal tax requirements.
I stress this is specific to the USA.

To give you some background, read the below thread. (Only been on the forum since September 2010).

Right, but what would they get out of asking for an SSN/EIN? Or why would they not want sellers re-using their SSN on other accounts as long as they get taxed correctly. (So in effect I'm asking why are they allowing stealth accounts to be made without asking for SSN in the first place).

To respect the law in US, paypal has to send you an official tax form (1099) when you go beyond the 200/20.000 limits. They have to send the tax form to a SSN/EIN.

It is also a good opportunity for them to ask you for social security number and figure out who you are.
