Did you successfully list your item? I got an mc999 on one of my newer stealths. I listed a magazine, so it might not have to do with your ink. Your post gave me a clue though and I think it has to do with not linking your PayPal account with your eBay account. That account that I got an mc999 on, it was the same, I did not link PayPal. On the other hand my first 3 stealths had no issues. They were not linked. Another member here, corleone said this started on oct 1, the public database questions. We will see, I'm running another 4th stealth right now. Listed a cd. We will see how it goes. This time I linked it with a PayPal acct.

Something going on at eBay. One of my stealth accounts got suspended just a few hours ago for the same reason.

Address is not in their database. Once this becomes a problem and you either call them or they call you then the rest of your stealth gets unraveled.

eBay called my stealth number, I answered and the guy on the eBay end sounded like an IRS investigator...... cold personality and hit me with questions that I could not answer so I knew I was done for.

My address is non-existent, my stealth phone number was not matching area code for the place I am supposedly living and when I thought I had him beat on all this with my bs story he hit me with "OK, whats the nearest cross street to you?" my reply "ahhhhhh, ahhhhhh, I'm new to the area and I actually don't know."

Then he asked what the address of my PO is where I have my PO Box.

Another answer I had not prepared for.........

I gotta say, this guy was pissed and went off about me being a liar and said he would be sending me an email for items he needs to further verify my identity.

The email I got was a full suspension on both eBay and PayPal until identity is proven.

So PayPal and eBay get to share the money I had in PayPal.

How nice.

EBay is head hunting again and they are coming on strong.

I hate to say it but I think lots of stealth accounts are going down over the next few days. Every time I log into my one remaining stealth account I cringe if the window opening is slow !!!

I did everything I was advised to do with both accounts.

Show a few buys the first month and do some browsing.

Just list a few small items to sell the second month.

Shipped immediately when payment was received.

Had a total of 10 positives feedback's and just got my yellow star.

Account activity had nothing to do with the call I received I'm certain just by the way the guy started out with me about this phony address issue.

my paypal was linked when I made the selling account I have 2 other accounts that are still going I think its because it was a new item and I didn't wait a full month to list selling cds on ebay for a first item is bad I really wouldn't do that and I didn't have any feedback yet I was still at zero my other accounts I list like a book or a coffee mug for a first time item I thought I would do a printer ink and it wouldn't get it but I had a bad feeling it would give me the mc099

"My address is non-existent, my stealth phone number was not matching area code"

Never use an address that does not exist. The USPS puts out a database of EVERY SINGLE DELIVERABLE ADDRESS in the entire USA, which is updated every 90 days or so. Many large corporations subscribe to this and will know right away that the address is phony.

Also, I would advise against using a phone number with an area code that does not match your stealth identity. True, many people move and prefer to keep their same number now that long distance charges are not an issue, but it is still out of the ordinary.

Remember, the goal is to make your account look average and normal in EVERY WAY.

"my PayPal is confirmed with a vanilla visa gift card and a vanillaprepaidcard for the bank part so that's verified too"

I would not use a bank account attached to a prepaid card. YES, it HAS worked for many people - that is true. But it has also tripped some people up. I would use a real bank account or a VBA for PayPal.

The thing is, there is a much higher incidence of fraud and also overdrawn accounts with these prepaid cards since their primary appeal is to people who do not have a bank account for various reasons.

I am not saying this is the reason the OP lost the account, but it COULD be a piece of the puzzle.

Prepaid cards are fine for credit card verification (as long as the address matches for AVS), it is just the bank accounts attached to them that can be problematic. There is also a difference between the bank account on a prepaid card and a VBA.

A VBA is a virtual bank account that is used only for verification purposes. You cannot use it for withdrawals or deposits. It is usually closed soon after your PayPal account is verified.

A bank account attached to a prepaid credit card is an actual bank account in the sense that you can use it in much the same way as a regular bank account. But, the prepaid cards with the bank accounts appeal to consumers who do not have an account at a mainstream bank. Usually, these are people who cannot get a bank account, many times because they left the bank holding the bag for overdrafts or had other issues that make the banks view them as risky. So does PayPal.

PayPal knows from the routing number, who the banks are. They can run searches on their database to see what percentage of accounts ended up in default of some sort on each routing number. When a routing number has a high level of problems, then they can either block it outright or scrutinize each new account using that routing number. For those of you who may not be aware, a routing number identifies the BANK, not an individual account holder.

A local or regional bank operating in good neighborhoods may have a very low problem rate. A mainstream larger bank, like Chase or Bank of America would probably have an "average" problem rate. A second chance bank ( a bank that welcomes those with bad credit or ChexSystems histories), such as WoodForest is likely to have a higher rate of problems. And the bank accounts attached to the prepaid cards would have to be among the most problematic.

That is why I always prefer to use mainstream banks. I LOVED the idea of the prepaid cards, but it just never worked out really well for me.

Having said all this, keep in mind that these cards DO WORK for some people. It is all a matter of how much risk you are willing to take.
