It was once a gaint, now it's nothing but a deserted town. What a shame! John, ebay was never Amazon and it will never be one! eBay was a unique place until you tried to turn it into your own distorted vision. | For real. I thought Bush was bad until I got Obama. And I definitely though Whitman was horrible until I got Donahue.
I agree eBay was never suppose to be Amazon. It was like a big garage sale of small independent sellers until Donahue destroyed it. Now eBay is lost they have so few sellers now that in many areas is actually hurting them. It is like going to a store and having empty shelves.
I agree stanislav 110%. All the posts I have read, you definitely go back and understand what has happened. eBay is not even close to what it once was. Anyone on here saying eBay is bigger than it use to be. Maybe revenue from other ventures. But transactions and the community at-least in the US and I am sure is same in UK is smaller than it was about 5 years ago. |

Ebay Sucks, Paypal Sucks, Amazon sucks, retail brick and mortar sucks, everything sucks but many of us are doing better than ever, adapt, change, and if need be, copy/paste what others are doing. |

100000% agree! I can't add anything to that as you already summed up everything in the post, thanks!
Some people here need to take that advice to heart. |
| yankee | 11-23-2014 05:43 PM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 Visibility. I can list a $400.00 item and get a watcher in an hour and oftentimes sold. NOT using relist option, straight up new listing.
On the $40-100 items, it is taking almost one day and they are MORE popular items.
I will be on ebay 16+ hours a day for the next five weeks and will have this well tested account to account along with on the same accounts. This could totally change my velocity via bundled items compared to single items if it is not a random fluke. |
| solefoodbk | 11-23-2014 06:15 PM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 Yep. I have plenty of items I need to get listed ASAP. That relisting method is key, I bet most people don't know NOT to do it. Not sure if your the orginal person spreading the message about it but I've seen that discussed before. This is the time we've ALL been waiting for, time to make stuff happen! |

Are you talking about the auto-relist option? Please elaborate... |
| vogeltron | 11-29-2014 04:24 AM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 Anyone not currently using Amazon for many products I will say it has been a blessing the past few months since I started. I did have to buy a bunch of unused SKUs off eBay to get started because of the products I sell. I never knew about going that route before. But none the less it has given me about a 15% boost in sales the past few months. For me any boost in sales is a major help. eBay seems dead to me compared to previous years. I am on year 12. |
| yankee | 11-29-2014 07:42 AM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 On Amazon I am in outdoor sports category(as a general rule) and it is not comparable to ebay. I will take it and I actually get a little bit more for my items on Amazon than I do on eBay. |

I will get more feedback in one day on ebay on one big account than I have in six or seven years on Amazon combined.
In my little world it is not comparable at all. It is less than 1/1000 of my sales lol |

I just got back on eBay it's hard to be patience on there this time of year |

I am 100% sure that it is a visibility issue. Perhaps a glitch.
The real question is ''will they fix it?'' | What makes you say that? Sales are still 50% down for me and still makes no sence, especially when Amazon is booming. |
| yankee | 11-30-2014 08:02 AM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 Visibility is not a glitch. It has not been a glitch for years.
They funnel sales for a slew of reasons.
Ebay is quite aware that the platform can be manipulated for visibility of auctions side of things. Someone with deep inventory, systems and manpower(being able to deliver goods/handle volume) can easy bury most other sellers items in search.
So they came up with this system that literally turns visibility on and off. It is right in the terms and conditions of using ebay when you open your sellers account.
The good and bad(for me and my partners) is that this has changed A LOT over the past 13 months. You no longer can buy the visibility. Ebay will close down a "Controlling seller"
The very odd thing is that it is so incredibly random, especially in flooded markets such as phone anything etc... |
| Dmshark25 | 11-30-2014 12:36 PM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 It's just so inconsistent this year as opposed to last, last year as soon as my accounts had paypal holds lifted and increase in eBay Sales than Id just list all BIN with immediate payment and would sell 100 items in a day or two .
Now as soon as my account get the limits raised and holds lifted I feel that's it every once in a while I'll get a flash where they make my listings visible and I'll sell 20 $100 items and than wont get another sale for a week
I do better on newer accounts with holds , and just keep spreading out sales than I do with just one aged account with great history of selling |

| aking | 11-30-2014 05:11 PM | Is your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 My sales were slow until I studied the market and really started to be competitive in my pricing. You have to do your homework in your category and be competitive in your pricing and shipping costs.
Big profits are nice, but when you have a large inventory, it's good to drop prices a bit to move items quickly and turn a profit.
My sales just picked up once I made some slight adjustments with listings, shipping, and pricing. |
| yankee | 11-30-2014 05:30 PM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 I make my money on the buy. When consumables price as a commodity, I mix it up. I buy out entire retail stores. I make a one lump sum offer and clear out all existing stock.
Now that I am moving many accounts to VPN and VMware, we will list right on the spot. Never handle a product more than once. Straight up .99 auctions all ending on the best nights and times and ship from location. When one stealth hits its selling limits/paypal, list onto the next.
This is an entire new business model for me, lol |

This is an entire new business model for me, lol | It's a really good one, just keep moving on to a different stealth account, once u get tied into one is when they hide more and more of your listings, keep Accounts fresh and Moving |

So list 40 items on auction that you expect to end $300-500 has worked very very well so far.
I have not received one request from paypal either...Yet. I am milking one account and should get it tomorrow for sure. It may just exceed 15K tonight and has already collect 4-5K |
| yankee | 11-30-2014 06:04 PM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 At first I was trying to spread sales deep, but all sorts of issues came up. Crossing IPs in error, mixed up pics, using multiple photo booths and change constantly to make them all seem like differant sellers, a mess on shipping and my shippers(My fault for not having all notifications sent to one email address, poor systems)
Then we just listed to the max and then changed photo booths/backdrops, etc...and listed to the max.
MUCH MUCH EASIER so far anyways. |

MUCH MUCH EASIER so far anyways. | It is all a matter of adjusting that selling plan.
What worked a month ago, might not work this week.
Where there were glitches, it's imperative to grasp that & resolve them.
Have to keep the business flowing, imo.

:ranger: | I didn't start seeing glitches until about a month ago. I stand corrected on any comment I've made about "not seeing glitches"... the more accounts you have the more noticable this thing is.
But I 100% agree that its a matter of adjusting then complaning like some members do. :tears: Does nothing but waste valuable time. |

| scotch | 12-01-2014 07:57 PM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 Yeah, sales are bad in my case... Competitive prices. I feel there is something we don't know about.
My guess:
1. Google hit
2. eBay algorithm modification in the back-end, which essentially we don't know about.
3. Shoppers turned elsewhere. |
| yankee | 12-01-2014 07:59 PM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 You guys who are slow, are you selling in a saturated market?
I am cranking along as good as ever and I am only talking about new stealth accounts selling mostly used archery items...
Good like it was 8-10 years ago. |
re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 yankee I'm selling the same products as ever. Until now, had like 30-50 orders/day, now only 7-11/day. Some friends also got bad sales. |
| yankee | 12-01-2014 08:12 PM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 I am burning a raised limit account almost everyday and usually can get 1.5x the limit out of an account. It is crazy, but I also have the inventory and manpower and run a slew of .99 auctions. |
| solefoodbk | 12-01-2014 09:00 PM | re: ARE your sales still slow this month? Oct - Nov 2014 I'm already getting away with crazy prices that SHOULDN'T sell for what they are but ..hey I'm not complaning. :)
Its only the 1st!!! Each day closer to christmas the more traffic I keep on getting. First holiday season and I'm LOVING IT!!!!!
Like I said in a earlier post, if your slow right now you really need to rethink your approach to selling. Mainly speaking to the newer people selling on eBay not the veterns who know their stuff. This should be the busiest time for you as a seller as its the time people spend spend spend spend spend!!!! |
