| james13v | 12-11-2014 04:28 PM | Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch It was supposed to get there on the 1st. Shows delivered. How the hell am I supposed to deal with something like this? Quote:
December 1, 2014 , 10:06 am
Delivered, Front Door/Porch

The case says Quote:
The mail tracking state the ítem was delivered in the porche outside the main door, on Dec 01. the ítem was not outside of the house this day . The ítem was an over 130 dlls watch that should be signed and not just leave it outside the door. Need the ítem or the money back.

james13v | 12-11-2014 04:30 PM | Re: Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch Obviously I'd win the case. But he can still tarnish me. And can't he open a SNID after the fact? |
Bunneh | 12-11-2014 04:42 PM | Re: Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch surely delivery men only leave items on a porch with a security door? not just out on the open? have you checked google maps for this?
How much is the item worth?
If it is a lot, it may be worth contacting the delivery company. |

A normal house in a kinda ****ty neighborhood. No gate and no patio screen. Just a door and a doorway |
pr0wake | 12-11-2014 04:45 PM | Re: Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch Explain to the customer that they have to go through the case process in order for you both to get your money back
in cases like this, ebay will usually refund them as a courtesy and release funds to you as the case wins in your favor.
just be polite and courteous, but be clear that you cannot give a refund, ebay has to. |

Last week I had boxes hidden behind bushes at my home office. BIG BOXES, LOL |

If it is marked "Glass" or "Fragile" they will normally drop it on the ground a few times first and perhaps even kick it around a little.
To be fair, most packages are not stolen. This was probably just bad luck, or the buyer figured out how to get a freebie. One of the two. |
yankee | 12-11-2014 05:20 PM | Re: Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch Next will be feedback extortion, lol
Dealt with it twice on the same account. User are both from Washington state. They bought the same items. Very similar communication and spelling error of the same word...Stealther trying to get something for free? Hmmmmm......lol
Done with that account I guess. |

Ravenswood | 12-11-2014 06:05 PM | Re: Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch What the buyer needs to understand is that the delivery person whether USPS, FedEx, UPS are set to your route. And just like us sellers we typically know our pick up people they need to understand their delivery and driver.
As sellers and shippers its not really our problem that the driver screws up or these thefts occur. It becomes our problem. When a buyer leaves negative feedback on something like this that is completely out of our control then they really have no business buying online or catalog...or anywhere that the item needs to be shipped.
The customer is paying in the end for delivery. If they want everything to be perfect than Armored car service might be in order.
Our responsibility is that we INSURE the item correctly for the payout from the delivery company. You are responsible for every amount over the insured amount that the delivery company. Thus INSURANCE is not to protect the buyer but the shipper....contrary to what sellers believe. |

you sat at your PC or used your cell phone and had typed communication with (lack of ) customer service on ebay.

:pop2: | It's too bad they did away with the Live Chat. Was much easier to let your computer wait for 30-60 mins for a "customer service" rep then to stay on the phone that long. |

Salvo | 12-15-2014 07:55 AM | Re: Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch I had this happen to a guy at an apartment, my delivery and several others that were supposed to show up all disappeared one day. He opened a case. I was very helpful and offered to call his local post office, told him to check with apartment manager/office, or neighbors. It was never found to my knowledge. I "lost" the case (it was closed in his favor if I remember correctly) but I still received my money for the item. It was just a little over $100 in worth.
I don't know if because I sent the item (it showed DELIVERED) and he claimed it wasn't there that eb/pp took the hit for the items or what.
Package theft is always around though, especially in busy neighborhoods. I've seen lots and lots of houses where they just leave a nice stack next to the door (mine included). Even my friends apartment building, his whole hall had almost a dozen amazon boxes just left in the hallway between all his neighbors! |

You sure there wasn't something more to this?
And see, the problem is, everyone wants things with signiture confirmation, won't pay for it, and start complaining when they are NEVER home to sign for the package, and have to wait, or go to the post office, which they sometimes can't. Worse even, is if they aren't able to pick it up and it gets returned to sender! |

BY-THE-WAY, if a buyer refuses delivery, ebay will take action against the buyer and pay you and you keep the item when returned. Not sure if that is for all accounts but accounts in Top Customer Care, it happens. |
john007 | 12-15-2014 09:09 AM | Re: Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch Fight the case, in eBay's eyes you did your part and they will side with you. |

Sooner | 12-15-2014 02:47 PM | Re: Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch I had something like this happen to me. I sent a package from the US to the UK. Two days AFTER the package showed delivered the buyer opened a "did not receive" case. Went back and forth with her and then I escalated the case the minute I could. As soon as I escalated the case the buyer then wrote and stated that the package was waiting at her post office, duty was due and she wanted me to pay it. I have sent this same item multiple times to the UK and have never had a buyer have to pay a duty tax. Buyer left negative feedback. I reported the buyer via the resolution center and also blocked her. The case was closed in my favor and the negative feedback was removed. Finally, a good ending to an eB story!! |

newjerseymax | 12-16-2014 04:43 PM | Re: Buyer had item delivered. Opened up case someone stole it off his porch I have had a few of these. I will replace the item if they file a police report which I need for my insurance claim. Most of the time they wont. |

We received tracking information from you before or at the time the buyer opened the case that shows the item was delivered to the buyer's address. You don't need to do anything else. Because we decided in your favor, this case, any feedback left, and all detailed seller ratings left, will not affect your seller performance. In addition, any feedback left for this transaction will be removed. Note: It may take up to 24 hours for these updates to reflect in your Seller Dashboard.

SHEESH......Seriously, you know your priorities, financial status, and account status better than anybody. It kills me to see people come in here for advice from total strangers on this kind of subject.
You and only you know the value of your item versus your ability to withstand the worst possible feedback/DSR. |

I was asking for advice on how to deal with a situation that many people have dealt with before.
If I would have taken your advice, I'd have been out TWO watches, and wtf is the point of that? |
