I sell higher dollar items everyday on ebay but nothing risky top ebay/paypal eyes and almost never over 2k.

I would be careful of the cheaters and haters of realm of buyers. A lot of bait and switches go on eBay. The marketplace has become dangerous for high valued items. I would see if you can sell them at an auction house instead of on eBay. Lets say you do sell them and get limit on it. The feebay and asspal decides to hold your funds for the next 6 months.

Even freaken craigslist is better deal or trade them for BTC at bitcointalk.org by putting an AD up.

At most I would go on ebay is 1 iPhone that not valued over 500$. I am really nervous when I list anything over 300$. Always a chance eBay will screw with you due to it being high value item.

Ha I would never sell something of such value with paypals 21 day interest feast and buyers 100% money back guarantee your only asking to get scammed. 99% of buyers willing to pay that kinda money will most like steal the item and get a refund. They will get the shoes and claim a shoelace is missing and want a full refund and send u a pair of old sneakers back in return.

Thing I learned about ebay is u NEVER sell nothing of high VALUE or that u cant afford to lose.

There is a post on here somewhere about the drawbacks on 'local pickup only'. I would research it before trying this option. There are also several threads about people listing high-priced collectors items such as your shows and the buyer ripping them off, stating that they are knock-offs or not the same as in the photo and submitting a claim to ebay to keep the product and receive a refund.

I would try a high-end consignment store or a shoe expo to be safe.

Local pickup is cash in hand. Not paypal.

Ebay and local pickup is great for many things. Cars, ATVs, BIG items that people ship freight/carrier or drive over and pick up. But cash. Not paypal as a seller.

who in the hell would use paypal for local pickup lol that's just crazy and silly. extra fees for nothing and risk of begin scammed.

I totally agree , I have products I sell on eBay that the cost is cheap , a lot of $10 items that bring $40 Profit

The most expensive cost item that I usually sell is $130 and sells around $280 range

So I'm able to lose items and not take a hit because the profit margins are very high, I also set all buyer requirements as high as possible and just ship in the continental US all Priority mail

And I never have scammers anyway by limiting my buyers

I was traveling through Atlanta and stopped by for some food and saw they were having a HUGE shoe collector show. People just had stands and showed off their collection and/or sold and bought shoes. I'd take it to one of those..

When you say expensive shoe, I am thinking of some limited edition Nike Jordans or something of the sort.

Wish we had thong shows here in Australia - I have a huge collection.

By thong I mean flipflops, jandles, sandles.. whatever you call them in the US

Well I do know if they open a case on ebay and its local pickup, its possible I could get screwed out of the money that way.

I would have "no tracking" to "prove" its shipped because obviously local pick up. Another stupid loophole buyers have to scam us if they are dishonest.

I really have no idea what I'm going to do. I doubt I'll sell it on ebay so I have no problems saying what they are...

They're Nike 1971 USA colorway waffle sneakers haha. They are Nikes very first production of sneakers. The dates could be off since I don't really know but I know by the logo its Nikes OG "first" logo. The same style shoes from 1976 sold for 1100. The fact its the very first of Nikes production changes everything went it comes to their worth. Because there aren't any listed on ebay I really have no idea there true worth. There are defiantly signs of age and wear but they are also 40+ years old.

I will look to auctions and stuff that is local. I don't want to do craigslist because thats just way to much money to handle without proper paperwork.

I honestly think if any of my accounts get anything over 1000+ I'd get limited so if its maybe worth $1500+ there is NO way my accounts could handle that amount. The highest like I said is I think 300-400 dollars. There are way to many problems that could arise if I sell it on ebay/paypal. I'd obviously have to sell it on my more established accounts which would be risking them for starters, and then I'd have to worry about the buyer and issues there. I mean they're shoes so they can easily easily be "labeled f*kes" even if they are true authentics.

Since they're Nikes also... well I don't even need to say anything else :)

I most defiantly will look into getting them authenticated. I'm sure whoever does buy them will require that anyways. I mean I would if I was spending that type of money.

I always read stories about being in a thrift store for 1-2 hours and grabbing that "last thing" not thinking anything of it but low and behold it being the biggest sale of your life.

I would say the item itself is more of the issue than the dollar amount.

Sell a $2000 office chair you would have no problem at all. A $12,000 UTV with zero issues.

I wasn't referring to paypal at all, I was referring to the eBay scammers who could state that they never received the item ect.

I had a "digital item" I was selling to build feedback on one of my accounts (around the time I started learning stealth). The buyer for whatever stupid reason opened up a "item not recieved case" saying I never sent them the item. :doh:

They never even paid for the item because when they checked out it they selected "pay local pickup" so it hits my account as 0 when in reality it should have shown .45 cents. Not even talking about how pathetic the buyer was to open up a case considering the amount. I sent the buyer the "digital item" to their email address.

Obviously I have no proof of delivery via tracking and it was so long ago I had deleted the email. Well I had to speak to TWO different reps to finally get the cased sided in my favor. I only cared because it would have counted as a defect on my account.

Imagine this was say a real item worth $350. I highly doubt they'd be so "nice" in siding with me if the buyer decided to take out his/her bad day on me.

Just saying from experience local pickup can cause issuses.
