It was me who escalated the case to support because I figured the notice left on the tracking was good enough to combat an Item Not Received claim.

I guess not?

It was decided against me.

I had that happen to me on amazon. I think they have experience doing just that to know how it works and get away with it.

I've just had the same on two cases it seems to be automated if the item isn't showing as delivered.

If a notice has been left you will have to appeal it, and you'll win on appeal. My appeals both won once a human ( I do use that term loosely when referring to CS ) has looked at it.

You need to call up eBay and speak to someone. It will usually fix the problem.

I do not get it why would you escalate it if it is not shown as delivered?

You did not win because the buyer did not have their item and it looks like you allowed your annoyance to rule over common sense in this case.

It's been my experience, and many others, that while ebay can and does close cases in the buyers favor if it doesn't show delivered, showing " notice left" DOES count as delivered. So for you to say you don't get why he would escalate it, means you don't know how this particular system works.

Did the package get to the house? Yes. Is it the sellers fault the buyer wasn't around, lives in a bad neighborhood, or didn't bother to sign for a package and or pay some type of custom fees? NO. Therefor, ebay sides with the seller, that did EVERYTHING right on their end.

You have to escalate in order to appeal in a situation where the buyer has been notified and missed delivery. Its your chance of the case closing in your favour - but only on appeal, you will win every time.

If the buyer collects the item and closes the case, you are not guaranteed to win on appeal as the item arrived late.

Escalating was the correct thing to do, so he can appeal and win. eBay logic.

This is why you don't escalte cases as a seller.

What you do is either take the loss or call eBay and ask for a escalation without using those exact words. As a seller when you escalte a case you immediately give the buyer even more of a chance winning the case.

I can't say word for word how you do it but I've done this from time to time and ALWAYS win the case. Remember when you escalate via eBay site they only look at the data presented. It says a note was left, like the others said that DOESN'T mean it was delivered.

When calling in if your good at your communication skills its pretty easy to win over a ebay rep, that is if you have a good case to present them.

Not to mention your almost guaranteed negative feedback unless you win the appeal.

Was the item expensive? Can your account withstand scrutiny?

The buyer is pretty galling ion this case. He opens a not received case then also states he no longer needs the item because he did whatever else to complete his project, but he wants a refund - my guess is that he wants the refund without having to actually send the item back.

In a LOGICAL world, you would win. But the is the eBay planet.

Happens a lot, usually scammers, they pick up the item after they win the case. You can try calling Paypal after the tracking info will change to Delivered.

Well, if it's taken a long time to deliver, then why is it so hard to believe that the buyer would state he no longer needs the item, because he was able to either source it somewhere faster, or do without it?

Hi, I also have a buyer said "didn't receive the item" but the tracking shows delivered.
In some cases, maybe they are honest but I know some people are lying.
How can we, the seller, punish these dishonest buyers?
It makes me really angry.

Sorry I keep forgetting ebay logic How many people remember the start to the twilight zone?

https://youtu.be/NzlG28B-R8Y

Had five different sellers contact me about one seller after I posted it warning me that the item would go missing before it did go missing, never to be seen again.

Looking through their feedback this buyer lived in bermuda or some other as yet unreported area in the UK as they did not recieve so many items.

Contacted ebay and royal mail but neither would do anything about it.
