| | | | | epimetheus039 | 09-10-2015 04:57 PM | Seller update 2016. Time of relief Just received this message:
As eBay turns 20, I’m pleased to share an important update with you. We’re introducing a number of positive changes to selling on eBay—changes which we hope will help you grow your business.
Coming early next year: Simpler, more objective seller standards
Starting February 20, 2016, seller performance will be measured by two key metrics:
Defect rate: A new simplified defect rate will include just seller-cancelled transactions and cases that are closed without seller resolution. The following will no longer impact your defect rate:
Buyer feedback, including negative and neutral
Detailed seller ratings (DSRs)
Returns requests that are successfully resolved with your buyer
Items not received requests that have been successfully resolved with your buyer
On-time shipping: A new metric will be used to measure whether you shipped or delivered your item on time based on tracking information when available.
Thoughts? |
| yankee | 09-10-2015 05:02 PM | Re: Seller update 2016. Time of relief Sounds great!
kinda back to the old system of 4-5 years ago.
Problem is the foofoo sellers have it easier now.
What I find interesting is that I have NOT had this email. Just a 20% off for 20 items for celebrating 20 years lol |

Surely theres a catch somewhere? If not, I'd like to get my original account reinstated because I got suspended because of defect % that wouldn't apply under new rules. If they'd do it, they'd get many million people back and selling more with more certainty. |

The way the US information/email was deciphered on the UK ebay community board was actually shown, once the small print had been evaluated, was that it was actually becominng FAR worse, and that TRS levels are now going from 2% to 0.5% amongst other terrible changes. |

| Callidus | 09-10-2015 05:11 PM | Re: Seller update 2016. Time of relief @WhatsUpWhatsUp - yes you did make a thread about this.
Interesting - lets see it implemented before we all start shooting our bolt. |
| eternity4u | 09-10-2015 05:13 PM | Re: Seller update 2016. Time of relief It can be true.
I had several eBay customer service telling me that new changes are coming.
If this is true.....then what a relief.
And what a shame after millions losing thier accounts over this DSR rating. |
Re: Seller update 2016. Time of relief Now this would be awesome, if this rolls out everywhere, would probably be one of the best updates I've seen in a long time! |

This is only for Canada and US so far but a valuable tool is the Reddit eBay section. A lot of eBay and PayPal employees go on and talk about stuff. Surprised nobody mentioned it. It's not like this forum (it's kind of hostile over on it) but I just watch over... take notes... see what they are talking about... |

Wheres Paypal with theres?? haha | I see open reigns for good foofoo sellers though. So it depends on what you are selling. It may be harder to separate from the poor sellers who can handle cases compared to offering good service and goods.
This may sound bad, but with this sort of thing, I would create a few very large accounts and sell huge volumes with little customer service. Just focus of transactions and handling cases as they occur. Back to 2010 all over again.
Aggressive sellers will make bank and everyone else picks up the scraps.
It is great for half my business. |

Back to 2010 all over again. | I haven't been into eBay for YEARS so I don't know how did you guys handle it before certain rule changes but if those changes were to happen to UK accounts as well, I'd just have 1-3 high, high limit accounts and just do what you've just mentioned. Just sell, sell sell and go at it and if I do have any cases opened, just throw money at the problem and keep on grinding.
Considering I get 1 case in 1500 items roughly nowadays I'm all good. At the moment the rules don't really choke my business and I'm not into foofoo stock either, so both sets of rules would work for me.
On paper, the "just sort the cases between yourselves before we do anything" approach seems to be easier to handle.
TSR? Meh, I've not noticed a big change in my sales with it or not anyway so I couldn't care less if they have it at 2% or 0.5%
Postage time, expected delivery time? Easy, set the shipping time 3 days but actually send it same day/next day and let it be a good surprise for a customer- I do it now already and I've noticed that people leave lovely feedbacks, they are happier.
We'll see what happens over here in the UK, most likely UK will get a change as well- I can't see them changing rest of the world and leave UK as it is now. |

But to me it still looks like they are meddling in things they know nothing about such as postage.
I post all items same day or next day if I think it is for the best or not as the system we have now demands it. so how much you betting they still demand it and then dock my account for delays.
Why can't they just ask the people that actually use their system what changes are needed? |
