OS for VMWare

I am new to Virtual Machines and am trying to figure out exactly what I want to do for my stealth accounts.
I have installed VMWare Player 12 and just have a question about installing an OS for each Virtual Machine.
What does everyone here that uses this method for stealth use for OS's on their virtual machines?
Am I missing something, or do I have to install a separate OS for each machine?

Each Machine get's its own OS. So if you wish to run 7 VMWare's (7 different Accounts) then each of those 7 will require it's own OS installation.

So in theory, you could install Windows 7 on all the VMachines or have different OS's for each VMWare.

But do i need to purchase 7 different versions of Windows 7, or can I re-use the same one?

No, you don't have to buy 7 different versions of Windows 7.... just use the same installation to install all 7.

Yes, you can install the same Windows 7 with the same keycode on all of them. You will be bugged about counterfeit Windows installation and all that if you use a legit disc and code, but Microsoft will NOT do anything else.

You can alternatively look into mainstream Linux like Ubuntu if licensing is an issue. Since the browser is all you really need anyways, there's really not much new to learn.

How much memory would 20 accounts on one laptop take up on average installing win 7 on each ?

Or you could just install it onto a MAIN VMWARE then create a snapshot of that clean VMWARE PC image and then make full clones of that machine each time. Saves installing each time onto each machine you make.

What's the difference between doing this and just creating a new windows user account? It sounds like it is basically the same thing.

I thought the reason people used VMware was to totally "mix it up" by installing different OSs, browsers, fonts, etc?

Could you give more detail? Maybe a short tutorial post? I'd appreciate it, and I'm sure others would find it very useful as well.

Problem with Amazon is there is so much conflicting info, still!

I will not use and also do not believe that windows user accounts are safe enough. Many users report that a new windows user account is safe enough but considering I am creating accounts for others I prefer to take the extra precaution. They say they do not track by MAC, consensus is they don't but still a new MAC per Amazon is preferred by me.

You're basically using a new PC for each Amazon with VMWare whereas a new windows user doesn't separate accounts enough for me PLUS my experience with the % of accounts going down using this method is high regardless on creation method.

Installing a new OS on each VM is better yes but cloning works well as well.

I will do a tutorial and wack it in Subscribers section, today maybe tomorrow.

Awesome. I'm sure this info will be well received. Possibly even stickied, given how complicated VMware is for new users.

I use virtualbox with a linux OS , All open source. with linux you can have more variety with the OS

VMware is easier to install

VC are safer than just windows profile

Be one step ahead of them

I use a stripped down version of Windows XP so I can run multiple VM's without bogging down my laptop. Each VM gets 1 slice of processor, and 1 gig of ram. Works like a charm.

To the mac guy, VMWare is compatible with mac. I used to have it on my macbook. The mac version is called VMWare fusion instead of VMWare Workstation, but it works exactly the same. I used to use it to run Windows 95 on my state-of-the-art macbook.. just to make people be like WTF??

Agreed, I also use WINXP for all my VMWARE with low spec on each one.

I use a stripped down version of XP as well, it's perfect for almost all stealth needs and uses little resources compared to 7+ which for most ppl is unnecessary. If you really want to save on resources can use linux, but I just prefer windows.

Windows XP is my OS of choice too! So responsive, more responsive than Windows 7 8 10
