Default item above $1000 to start?

So I was experimenting and looks like I just blew this account up lol!

I listed a high risk item (only one item) above $1000 to see if it would start out limits above $1000.

Immediately went to 0/00.00 limits.

Anyone tried this and succeeded? It looks like the usual now is 5/500 and then progress up from there. Is that the only way to go now?

90% of users on this forum know that listing $1,000 item is just a waste of time and resources.

If you can call in on the account and pass database questions you can relist that item...

Just saying.

$1,000 item as a first item is just a really bad idea...

I have listed items worth over a $1000 plenty of times as a first item on 0 Fb accounts and yes they went through just fine, the accounts were several months to over a year old and I had over 100 accounts so I didn't have much to lose then

"0 Fb accounts" ? typo or sarcasm?

This one I had just finished confirming bank account and linking paypal to ebay. watched an item. did some bids then listed.

I had 5 accounts ready to go. now 4 : / lol

How about an item over $500 to bypass the 5/500 limit start?

Zero feedback accounts, people sell cars on 0 Fb accounts, is it reccomended? No but doesn't mean it won't work, if you have the extra time, money and accounts and are willing to take the risk then go for it, if not then keep it safe and don't do it

People who sell cars with 0 feedback probably have social security verified paypal account which makes a HUGE difference.

BUT,

When would one possibly list higher priced item? I'm just thinking about it in general lately because I think I might need to take a step up this year and sell few more expensive items. At the moment the most expensive item I've sold was £170 and I don't even want to go over £200 mark for some reason.
The accounts themselves are in very good "condition" 100% everything and I do about 2k a month on them, with average sale around £30-50.
Accounts are about 9 months old, all verified and high selling limits.

When would I possibly think about selling a £500 item on it, if ever? Currently I try NOT to have too expensive items, as I'm afraid to sell them for some reason- Better safe than sorry I guess, my little babies mean too much to me, just to lose them over one time sale.

Sounds like you're a little nervous, in that case I would wait until you feel more confident in your endeavors and make your little ones proud, go with your instincts

It is not the dollar amount....It is the item.

Go ahead and list a used ATV and you will have zero issues.

Or a set of wheels and tires USED or in my world, high dollar sporting goods traded in have no issues.

Now with that being said, expect PAYPAL to request proof or residence and photo ID.

Add a few $300 or $500 to the mix. Dont switch entire accounts over all at once, it seems to trigger invoice requests the past few months. Also, if you are switching to a more restrictive category even if deemed relatively safe(such as homegoods) do it SLOWLY. Don't sell 3 $300 units in an hour the first time you list in that category. Maybe 3 the first week...

$1000 item to start is a bad move - kind of a waste of an experiment to be honest :( build the account up for longetivity.

You are saying my idea will work if I use your idea about used tires or what not? Except Paypal will STILL request photo ID and proof of residence?

What's this about invoice requests? Why do they assume or insist you have or need these even if it wasn't stealth? I never use to even use suppliers when I first started

ebay and paypal request invoices or proof you purchased the items if they are new.
