Default Authenticate Case Opened - Question

I have a buyer that just opened a case stating what I sold them is not "authentic". I'm assuming I will win it because they even stated in the case details "this is a (brand name)". Not sure why they said that because it contradicts there entire point but I'm assuming they aren't very intelligent.

My question is when I called about the return requested by the buyer the rep ended up opening a case for me and put the case on hold. They are now requesting the buyer to provide proof that its not authentic. I already know the buyer can't prove anything so I should be okay but does this happen every time a buyer questions its authenticity?

I even offer 14 day returns and would of accepted the return if they said they didn't like it etc. By them claiming I sold a phake item I get a defect, an almost guarantee negative from them, and I'd pay THEIR return shipping. So a loose loose loose.

This is a good thing eBay does if its a common practice. If a buyer states its a phake they should be able to without a shadow of doubt prove their statement.

All they need is a third party saying it is not original. So, how hard do you think it is to make up a letter stating it is not real from another retailer?

True but I have a opportunist, not an actual scammer.

She's the type to only buy during Christmas and has horrible grammar so I'm not too concerned. They put the case on hold for 5 days which to me is perfectly fine. I call in 2 days and get MY MONEY back.

Only thing that sucks is eBay DID request paypal to hold my funds even though 99% of the time they don't because my account is very strong.

That's good to know though. I know I could make one up pretty easy but again unless its an actual scammer they 9/10 wouldn't go to that length.

I used to get people who misused items and destroyed them. These items have warranties etc.... but you know it is a lot easier to screw the seller and just claim it was damaged.
You tell paypal, supply all docs, etc... and the buyer gets a local dealer(that wants to sell the $300-2000 items themselves) to say internet sales void the warranty or that the items was not misused, etc....
Then paypal requires the buyer to send the damaged goods back. I then have to call paypal/or ebay, file a fraud report and get paid back. On small accounts you just get screwed.

Hope you end up whole! wish ya luck!
