Default How many accounts for $6k in sales a month

Just wanted opinions on how many accounts I should have and how many back ups I should have?

I currently have 9 but they are relatively new and I have to wait to get feedback before the funds are released or 21 days are up, kind of annoying. So I am listing slow about 1 item a week, waiting for funds to go through then list another item, I don't want to sell too much as they are new aco****s and get banned and lose the account, the money and the product.

thanks in advance

Nobody can give you the answer your looking for.

We all sell different items so its really trail and error with the product YOU sell. If you sold books compared to sporting goods, you'd get a different answer.

That being said its best to keep gross sales under 5K. Anything higher you run the risk of ebay requesting id, invoices etc. or getting an indefinite suspension. With paypal you run the risk of requesting id, invoices etc, OR the SOCIAL SECURITY request.

You make them the same as any other account.
Start small and work your way up.

You are operating extremely conservative.
For holds to go away you need 25 sales, $250.00 or more total and 90 days from first sale. Some reports of new accounts with no holds now also.

How many backups?
That depends on your service and items sold along with the price of each item. Keep in mind the 1099K issues as well. 170 items OR about 17K and you will get the request for tax info.

So how much should it be kept under to avoid suspension? If you have a high selling limit account should you stay under 1k.

There is a bunch of rubbish floating around the forum that if an account collects 5K a month it gets suspended. It is stupidity.

How many sellers do you see selling hundreds of thousands of dollars of items a month? They must all have been suspended now huh?

All of my accounts are suspended too..

What he means to say is that after a certain dollar amount collected(FACTS ARE 30K) Paypal will want to know more about your business.

The rumor is that all credit card processors review monthly transactions at 5K and that is very well possible. But for goodness sakes, it does not mean accounts get suspended. All businesses will be toast if that was true.

He is not talking about on one account. He means across multiple accounts to sell 6k a month. Not per account.

it is hard to handle too many accs at a time, but maybe 6 accs could work...there is no right or wrong answer....dividing your accs by supplier or catagory helps you decide too...

This will vary based on what kind of selling limits you have on your accounts and also what items you sell. If you selling $10 items then you need 20-30 accounts to make $6k. If you're selling items for $1k a pop, then of course you need fewer accounts (5-6).

I have about 6 active selling accounts and I've done about $50k in sales between the 6 accounts since this time last year. I was shocked when I saw all my accounts almost around $10k each in a year. Considering I've only been back on eBay for about 1.5 years after a long hiatus.

The key is start slow with a fast selling, cheap item and build your feedback and trust with eBay.

You do not have to sell 1 item a week. If you sell non-risky, generic items you can sell as many as you want. In fact, you should try and max out your limits (esp with 5/500 accounts). The items you sell should be cheap items so who cares if the funds are held for a few days. After you sell so many, you will have funds getting released everyday. Just make sure to ship fast and upload tracking THE SAME DAY!

Do not wait to unload tracking the following day. It is one of the metrics you are graded on for limit increases.

Once your funds get released, buy some cheap items to build up feedback. A lot of power sellers have automatic feedback systems set up that get you quick + feedback as soon as you purchase the item.

Looks like it was a glitch, just took longer than normal to fix, went for 14 days, today 2 of the 3 new accounts started receiving holds again, and one of them is still going with no holds but I'm sure that will close up shortly

So basically you would spread out your earnings to stay under the 17k to avoid getting the tax request?

I've got it on ALL my accounts under 10K sales with about 110-130 sales.

you will get a tax request if your sales hit this range as posted above or 150. Sales have been around 5k for the trigger to happen. Whether than can be slowed to get it closer to the 20k rule has yet to be seen. Rapid sales in 2-3 weeks = tax request period if over 130 trans and 4k.

Yes. It has always been this way.
It HAS been proven over and over that IF you have slow and steady sales well below projected 20K 200 transactions per given month you very very rarely get a request.

Also if your velocity is VERY fast you can go well above threshold with use of auctions all ending at the same general time. Proven over and over as well. Of course you cant do this with all paypal accounts. Some things need to be in place such as data base verified and/or age along with invoices etc...

Why not get an EIN so you don't have to worry about dodging the tax info request?

Seems kind of like a waste of time to have accounts that sell under 10K / year.

I always select not us citizen or entity for the tax requests. I'm using canadian paypal of course. I'm pretty sure you can tell paypal to buzz off that way, and just pay the taxes on your own (self report). And I've gotten at least 3 of these request on one account thatI'm still using.

Canadian paypal and US paypal may differ in that "buzzing off" aspect though...

USA paypal will simply get limited to receiving more funds until after the first of the year.
