just checking on swapping out numbers

ok been going through all the accounts found a few that the linked phone is dead sim no savin the number. That said i havnt been asked to verify its still working .. My understanding i can add a "new" number and remove the old if ever eb needs to call me or text a pin i can get it on the new number is that correct ? these are years old accounts and dont want to mess them up but would like to add new number before they ask

Always thought people kept the phone active for eBay since PayPal never made me confirm a number to begin with. Thanks for the info.
