Hi pperry, welcome to the forum.
Very wise to start your own account and leave alone your friend's one.
It would be good, at this point, leave both account completely unlinked. Very easy to do:
create a new user on the mac you are using (good for stealth like any other PC) and get a new IP... that's it.

the only reason i ask is because i don't want to buy VPN when i have a ip address that isn't being used anymore for eBay and am trying to avoid the charge of VPN but if i have to i will but was wondering if it would be okay to just use my old ip address because the other eBay account is in good standing and never to be used again. thanks guys for the help

Before buying an IP you can try free ways to change your IP. In some cases you can just unplug your router and that will do the trick. Or you may be able to make use of 4G phone tethering as long as you have a smartphone with a data plan. Some carriers offer this for free. The stealth guide has detailed instructions on how to change your IP.

use the tethering function of you phone, you don't need a vpn

There will be issues if there is already an account using the same IP
Can you not use other options to access the internet?
I've thought about this but my friend does not want to have anything sold on his account anymore. & my ip will not change with a simple restart or unplugging etc.

in theory i can use the tethering option but at home my service is so awful. phone stays on 4g through out the house . wifi is just so much faster. looks like i have to come up with some sort of solution lol

I was wondering about that too; I plan to buy an all new device because I have a mac and didn't want to take any chances. Can anyone confirm 100% that all Mac OS with separate users will work in the same way a PC will? My mac is from 2007, so not sure.
