If you choose "out of stock" to cancel the transaction, you will have a defect on your seller dashboard. And they still can leave negative feedback to you.

they could post a comment if you cancel, normally they dont though....same as everything, even non-cancellation related too, depends on buyers character when there is an issue, some buyers want a pound of flesh even when you have done everything right so...

Just tell them you're sorry but this is my dad,mum, son, daughters etc account they are in hospital and have asked me to cancel orders and make sure you get refunded as they don't want you waiting. I would post it myself but i don't have access to his/her warehouse.
If somebody leaves negative after that message they are absolutely c***s

I would honestly say to buyer that I am sorry I have run out of stock, you are most welcome to wait for stock but I have no definite date when the stock will be back I am just waiting from my suppliers OR I can fully refund you. In most cases it works and you can getaway from -ve feedback.

Don't drop any "hospital bombs" or "funeral bombs" buyers pretty smart to know that you are just trying to save yourself. Also canceling as out of stock will leave a transaction defect on your dashboard which is very bad.

depends on the item,you can cancel the order based on mutual agreement or invalid address or just just print a shipping label and ship nothing.

I would suggest to contact the buyer explaining why you need to cancel the order. open communication can prevent negative feedback
