Requesting Feedback

I wanted to ask, How can i request my buyers to leave me feedback via ebay messages without sounding rude or like i am begging?

I have a few paypal accounts still on the 21 day hold restriction and the balances are £1000-£2000 held on each account but they will only release the payments after i receive feedback or after the 21 day hold.

So when a buyer doesn't leave feedback its rather frustrating.

I have had buyers confirm reciept of delivery for through ebay messages but still dont rate me, so i cant get the funds released thanks to royal mail not getting the signature i paid for.

So any suggestions...

Sometimes it's best to just send them a nice message. Ask if they are happy with their purchase and if they are willing to leave you feedback based on their purchase.

A lot of people don't care to give feedback unless it's a bad purchase so in many occasions it's better not to get feedback than to get neutral or negative feedback.

getting pos feedback can be tuff sometimes

i leave a nice message on paper when i ship saying i have left them positive feedback.

Try and be over the top with your comment about them in the feedback comments. Their head swells a little and i think are more likely to leave you a feedback.

instead of just saying "good customer" say something like " This customers is one of Ebay's finest" "PERFECT" "valued customer" 5 star all the way. alot can be said here

i follow up every sale without feedback with a very quick message to seller

Hi Mr. Smith
We wanted to make sure everything is fine with your purchase from us.
You are a valued customer and are welcome back anytime.
Please feel free to leave feedback as we have already left you positive feedback.
Sincerely, Me

I haven't had anything bad with this yet........
some people don't want to be bugged about anything so i only send it once.

I agree that no fb is better than bad fb but when the account is limited and you really need the fb's, its worth a shot to try anything.

even after all i do regarding fb's.....i get about 3-4 out of 10 leaving fb

good luck

I don't know about ebay UK but ebay US it clearly states that the 21 day hold can only get released 3 days after confirmed delivery they state that feedback doesn't count because it's not accurate. Probably should review it and see if this feedback applies to ebay UK.

sometimes buyer leaves feedback only after seller leaves it 1st, especially if you have only few feedbacks

I'm totally using your example message if you don't mind. It sounded very kind and professional. If I was a customer I would love to leave pos. Feedback if I got that message. Sometimes I think my buyers just simply forget to leave feedback

Ive been emailing paypal after 3 days after confirmed delivery and they release the payments, but it would be easier if i didnt have to keep doing it.
Also i would prefer to have the feedback :D

On my one account ive sold over 400 items and only have 120 feedback :pout:

You dont have to use this one, but make it polite, quick, and simple. No one want to read a paragraph.

"I noticed that your item has been delivered and I please ask you take a few seconds to leave 5 star positive feedback. It would be highly appreciated. Thank you."

On new accounts I go ahead and leave feedback and then ask them nicely, I left feedback can you do the same etc?

I simply put a template note in with the shipping. If that does not work then i leave them alone.

Ive found some people leave feedback in bulk loads every so often.

It worth looking at the buyers 'Feedback left for others' then you can get a rough idea

how your buyer gives feedback and how often.

On a side note, with the new prices recorded costs an extra £0.95 for all the recorded items I send that they fail to get a signature uploaded onto the website once a month send of all your receipts to the claims address and you'll get the £0.95 back. Not much but builds up!

I leave them over the top positive feedback after payment, email with tracking stating that I also left them positive feedback, ship fast, put nice note in package thanking them for their purchase... that's it.

Ebay will send an auto reminder a few weeks later. I don't chase feedback, I would rather none than a 4 star surprise or neutral.

Bunneh,

3 or 4 to 1 is standard, your feedback conversion from sales looks pretty good to me.

Whatever works - notes are good.

great advice. I just noticed my buyer does this, same comment for all on same date. I was furious I wont get feedback since I sold him very expensive item and I need feedback to have my selling limits lifted (have roughly 3k€ now, would love atleast 5-6k€)

Yea, i don't suggest spamming for feedback as a seller either. I use to do it then I had one few people go off on me for some nit picky stuff and I ended up getting a negative. Had to work my magic to get them to change it. I will never message people asking for feedback again after that.

prosto_prelest 08-03-2012 11:28 AM

i have a few weeks old ebay (one of them) and my funds do not get released before 21 days even if the buyer leaves positive feedback...just as a note.
i started sendin out messages that as as part of my new ebayer deal all my customers who leave positive fb will receive 10% discount for next purchase. i don't know if this sounds ok, but it doesn't really work, to my dissapointment. out of 20 sales a month i get 3-4 feedbacks..... kinda sucks.

411guru 08-15-2012 07:12 AM

If you ask for feedback, how do you minimize the chance they'll give you a negativ? I need feeback to pull up my dsr.

rsot 08-15-2012 08:48 AM

Be nice with the request - make sure the customer has not sent hatred e-mails before - always a potential of creating a neg...or a neutral but it's a chance to take if you decide to take this route.

If you want, mail out a thank you note but it costs cash
