Cancelling Ebay's direct access?

I'm trying to cancel ebay's access to my bank account.

I rang my bank to cancel ebays access for any future claims on my account, but because it comes through paypal, they say they can't do it.
The only way is to close my paypal account, but I want to keep it, or cancel my credit card that is connected to my paypal account.

Is there a way of stopping ebay's access to my accounts, without me having to close my other accounts?

Oh, and it's a suspended ebay account, of course.

Which bank? Forget the ebay part. Tell the bank you want to stop paypal getting access to your account....you may have to fax a note to say stop the direct debit that paypal takes from the bank account....

Okay, let me see if I have this straight, the ONLY way to stop ebay from accessing my bank account is to stop paypal from accessing it.

But I want to continue to use that paypal account.

So if I cancel the bank account that is attached to it, and attach a new account, will ebay have access to the new account?

I hope you understand what I mean.....
