Activity: 0% Longevity: 81% | | Letter from Ebay for fees
I have been refusing to pay my eBay fees for some time now. The fees are on my original eBay account with my personal details. I have been getting emails for ages but just recently i got a phone call and a letter in the mail. I owe them like $45 AUD. I basically gave that account up for dead but they told me that i could "possible" restore it after i payed the fees. Dont want to any way because the PP i used with it is permanently suspended as well and that needs to be fixed before i can try and get my ebay back. The person on the phone was just trying to get me to pay.
I said in several response emails that i think its wrong for me to have to pay my ebay fees when my account was permanently suspended over selling items from DHgate which is a website pay-pal supports and offers there payment method on. DHgate "apparently" offers a guarantee that there items are authentic! I told them that they should deal with DHgate and that what happened to me is terrible! Oh and because my dad saw the letter he wants me to pay the fees because he thinks it will have an affect on my credit rating??? Is this true? I will prob pay it if it is :(
I am not quite sure what to do about the fees....should i pay them or shouldn't i? I dident think eBay would of cared so much about 45 dollars. There such cheap scum bags.

Ha jbuntz - sticking it hard.
Agree though - I wouldn't lose sweat over 45 bux. If your real name with real info, take care of it...though I doubt it goes to collections, why risk it? If you're hurting for 45 bux, sadly I would recommend avoiding the ebay stuff for a bit.
But if you're not...man, australia with no paypal restriction for ebay = gold...Get the stealth guide and get going =)

OP, yes, they'll send all your personal info to collections agency and if you don't pay it, you'll get a negative on your credit. So go and pay a measly $45.

I don't know about AU, but in the US, credit bureaus generally do not want to accept bills under $50 for negative reporting.

Of course, the OP might consider paying the $45 to rid of the negativity from his father

I suggest you pay the fees and move on with life. Ebay has all your real information and the amount you owe them is not big. Ebay has your real address, information and everything else on file. I suggest paying it and move on. If it was more than $40, I would consider ditching the fees but really...
$40......it won't hurt the bank.

I owe ebay lots of money.... as well as paypal....
My friends owe ebay lots of money... as well as paypal
Hundreds of users on this forum owe this horrid company lots of money
I personally wouldn't pay it, as a matter of principle. If a debt collector comes after ME for less than a grand I usually put it in the shredder.
Is your goal to pay it and get reinstated?
also, not to argue (I call it discussing...) but ebay and paypal aren't known to report to credit bureaus. The "debt" you owe them isn't really provable... for example, they say you owe fees to use their service, but they won't let you use the service? and paypal is perm limited? haha.... I wouldn't pay a dime.

The above advice given by a "moderator" is incorrect. You will get sent to collections yes, but they DO NOT report on your credit bureau information. Been there in my real name and others, and it never happens and on much larger amounts than yours. If getting called a ton and letters annoy you then pay it, if your only concern is credit rating getting dinged, dont waste your money by paying it.

Thats a big burden on me lol. Im in the U.S.A. and I was never touched up for either eBay fees nor was I hit for a negative paypal balance. I got a boat load of letters and 6-8 calls a day, but never had a hit on my credit rating and they had all my personal and real info.

Activity: 0% Longevity: 81% | | call from ebay trying to collect fees!
I got another epic failure of a call from ebay trying to collect $45 fees from my old suspended account
. When this account got suspended it was because of selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗ items. My paypal was suspended along with it. When i asked if my eBay could be reinstated they said i must have my pay pal reinstated first. I then contacted paypal and sent them in all the info they asked for...photo ID, Supplier info and tracking numbers. They responded to me saying that my paypal is suspended indefinitely and they wont be considering reopening it for a while. Not for at least 180 days im pretty sure. lucky there was -$4 in there haha, after this i gave up on it because i couldn't get my pp back and therefore couldn't get my ebay back. The chick on the phone also told me that paypal and ebay have nothing to do with each other! Then why did i get messages from ebay saying i couldent reopen my account until the paypal linked to it was fixed?.....
She also told me that "my account was suspended in the first place because of late fees" HAHAHAHAHAH.....breath....HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! I told her that it was actually suspended because i was selling ⊗⊗⊗⊗. She tells me there is no record of this....WTF??? She then tells me that my account will be reinstated if i pay the fees. Sooooooooo all of a sudden they wiped my ⊗⊗⊗⊗ selling record and tell me it was suspended because late seller fees. This is weird!!!

They are the same company when it suits their purposes, but they are totally separate when it suits their purposes.
Convenient, huh?

Do you think i should not pay the fees? its funny to coz she said something about it affecting my credit rateing some time down the track but in a really sus manner. I am not interested in even getting that ebay back because i know i wont be able to use it without a paypal. Unless i could make a paymate and link that to it? Still dont think i will even bother if thats possible.

"This could affect your credit rating" is ambiguous. COULD is an operative word. And define "credit rating" - Credit rating with WHOM? With eBay?
I don't know how it works in AU, but here in the US, the credit bureaus do NOT actually RATE anybody's credit. They simply report it. They DO have divisions that provide credit scores, but that is also not the same as a "rating". The fact is that most credit grantors use their own credit rating agencies.
For example, mortgage lenders usually get a score (FICO) from Fair Isaac Corporation, even though Trans-Union, Experian and Equifax all try to sell their own scores.
Thta is like when a collection agency tells you: If we do not receive your payment by the 15th, we will be forced to take further action.
Many people get worried that this means they will be sued. But define "further action". That could mean another letter, another phone call, or whatever.

Jesus Christ is only $45 Australian dollars. That's like $3 American.
Seriously, I am all for screwing Paypal/Ebay, but you are young and they have your real info and it is only $45, so just pay it and move on.
