Default eBay UK Tells Sellers to Open Doors to European Buyers

eBay began promoting eligible listings from the UK site across all European sites on June 3, according to a mailing that went out to sellers. The letter advised recipients that customs clearance was no longer required in the Common European Market, and said from time to time eBay runs promotions across other eBay country sites to promote international trade.

Typically there are several ways sellers can expose their listings to buyers in other countries. One is to select worldwide postage, in which case the listing will be seen on the eBay country site on which the seller registered and on the Global Buying Hub. Buyers must specifically go to eBay's Global Buying Hub site in order to see listings, however.

Another is to list items for sale directly on eBay sites around the world. Another option is to pay for the "International Site Visibility" feature, available for a fee and only available in certain country sites.

eBay UK told sellers in the email that in order for their listings to display across all European sites, they must accept PayPal as a payment method, add a translation of the item description, and add the posting internationally option.

The company also reminded sellers of changes to the site that will roll out on June 16, including the new Item page, free postage mandatory in certain categories, multi-variation listings available in the Shoes category, Free additional pictures in Clothes, Shoes & Accessories and Home & Garden categories, and a new forthcoming Resolution Process

Bah humbug. Am pleased about customs clearance finally stopping.
Will be ideal for some of my items.
