Default Cleaning EXIF - red flag?

I can see that is recommended to clean the exif data in order to not get linked but I think there might be a downside. Cleaning exif might bypass bots BUT what happens when your paypal/ebay account comes under review.

Ebay: I am pretty sure that if someone will review your account, they might look at the exif data. And no EXIF i think its a red flag.

Paypal: Sooner or later they ask for documents. Do you guys delete EXIF Data?! It works same here. A no exif file might be a red flag.

Made some research and found no phones/ cameras that offer no EXIF info without any kind of software.

I've been cleaning EXIF data on all of my eBay listing photos for years and it's never caused me any problems. That isn't the sort of information they check into even when your account is manually reviewed.

You could eliminate your worries by simply changing all of your EXIF data rather than erasing it.

EXIF data changer by Rellik Software

Still though, I can say with relative confidence that clearing all EXIF data with Batch Purifier isn't dangerous and does not raise any red flags with eBay. I can't say for certain with Paypal because I've never cleared EXIF data for any photos submitted to them (why would you anyway?).

Clearing EXIF data is perfectly fine. It's how i've been operating accounts since I began stealth numerous years ago now, and it has yet to compromise an account.

But I do get your point, it's just not a cause for concern at this time.

I've always been using the same device to get my pictures for multiple accounts. Would strongly recommend to CLEAR your META INFO before uploading any on eBay servers. Last thing you want is to get any identical meta info highlighted across r different ebay accounts - all linking to the same capturing device used

The price of the items you plan on selling will get you shut down long before you ever need to worry about EXIF data.

No EXIF data IS NOT A RED FLAG
300 to 1000 euro value items on new accounts IS A RED FLAG.

I second the above... you can do all kinds of things, even 1 pixel would change the date on the photo, but most importantly is what you are selling and at what rate...

In some cases, cleaning the EXIF would be a red flag, especially when submitting docs for verification.

For Ebay, cleaning EXIF should be a good idea.

He can't. He's just trying to sound knowledgeable on a subject he knows precisely nothing about.

well, lets start with the WHAT is EXIF?

EXIF stands for "exchangeable image file format" and allows you to store certain information within your photos. This information is known as "metadata" and can include things like the date and time the shot was taken, camera settings like shutter speed and focal length, and copyright information.

When you submit these days documents for verification (for example to an Exchange), most companies will also check the EXIF data to check if these documents have not been manipulated. Meaning are they really from a Scanner? are they really from a digital camera?
Manipulated images might not have EXIF data and would be rejected with reasons like "Please provide original documents" "Please provide documents which are not modified by a software"... How do you think they check this?

Here an example of EXIF data:

Now the second case:
You have your Ebay Accounts and you sell the same articles through different accounts. You take different pictures of the articles with your smartphone.
In this case, you don't really want to have Ebay linking all your accounts through your photos.
So in this case, you use some software to remove ALL the EXIF Data on your Photos. In this case, Ebay will never be able to say that these pictures have been taken by the same phone and the pictures will not be rejected! As everyone can and should "rework" the images of his products to have them looking better.

As you can see, in some cases EXIF data would be helpful and in other not at all.

Of course I'm not the EXIF Expert, but I know exactly what it is about and how it works, Mr Ebayorbust

You implied verification documents would be rejected if EXIF data is missing. They aren't. They can be rejected for other reasons but missing EXIF data is NOT the reason.

They wouldn't be rejected, they could be rejected, especially photos of your documents without EXIF.

Anyway, that's just what I think. I'm sorry if I offended you.

You're not offending anyone.

Once again documents are NOT REJECTED for not having EXIF data.
