Default Found an aged eBay account

Turns out my brother (does not have the same last name or home address) has an ebay account that is years old. It has never been used to sell. He's willing to hand it over to me.

I'm wondering, if I start selling, if I should slowly taper the sales up and not list too many things for sale.

I did this once before with an aged, and I did actually list a ton of items and sold over $1000 in a month because the account had been so old and already had 50 feedback on it. Unfortunately it had my information in it, so it was eventually linked.

In this case, it has none of my information, and I'm going to use a dial up to access it.

I anticipate that since it has never been used to sell, $1000-2000 in transactions will probably trigger some sort of verification (license), etc.

You'll still need to make sure you delete all cookies, flash, ip is different, etc... listings need to be different too.

Always keep a back up account handy.

There's not an easy answer to that question. It might as well be a new account depending on the items you sell. Your payment processor will play a bigger factor.

So your saying use a merchant account? Also the account has been active the whole 6 years last transaction 7 days ago

I created a new windows login for this account I will use. Dialup only.

You are saying I can't sell the same "item" I was selling before?

That is fine, I actually have lots of different items I can list.

If you started selling toilet seats, and then start selling software, everyone will have a problem, merchant processor included.....

There are a lot of factors. If you've sold 400 items over 6 years, not a whole lot, and then get a huge jump in two weeks, they'll ask questions.

Nowadays, an aged account isn't MUCH better than an account that is 90 days or older.

Yes, use a merchant account if you can.

This account hasn't sold anything ever, it's just old.

But, if I sell the exact same item I was selling before with my account, I would like to know if that is going to be a problem. I have over 50 of these things on hand. I've never had a problem selling them, but I kept using accounts that had my info.

This time, the ebay account will have none of my information and will be from a different location.

If I can't sell the same items again, I'd like to know.

List some items in categories they do not care about. candles, shoe strings, socks..get the idea? You have to mix it up.

im listing on a few older accounts and they are treated by ebay/paypal just like new accounts so take it easy and be careful. you will be treated just like you have never sold anything so be prepared.
