Default AOL & IP Issues

I currently use Charter Hi-Speed with a router. I downloaded AOL to use their browser, but when I do, I still get the same IP address as I get on IE thru Charter?? Am I doing something wrong? I see all the talk about using AOL, what do I need to do to get this right. Dial-Up is not an option, we don't even have a regular phone line/service. Our PH is vonage thru the Hi-Speed.

Yes, you have to sign in and make certain that you are using the browser and not the desktop(which looks and works just like a browser)

When I installed the latest version of AOL in automatically installed an AOL icon on my desktop. That logo was for something called the AOL desktop. So when I went to go online with it I couldn't figure out why all of my IE favs were imported into AOL. It's because I didn't sign in thru AOL browser was only using AOL desktop which is like a sort of skin. You might get a diff IP # by going to check your email and then it would ask for your login info.
My advice is don't automatically assume that since it looks like AOL that you have been assigned a new IP. Regardless it is a good idea to always verify your IP before entering EB and toi keep a log of it...kind of helps you understand how these things work too
