umm... I'm pretty sure you can't get the items cheaper in Japan for a fraction of the price if it's real... I lived there for MANY years and it's extremely expensive and the currency conversion will eat you up...

imjustme 10-08-2007 04:42 PM

If you go directly to the factories (of course, not in downtown Tokyo), you can. I can buy an item wholesale for $15 that goes in the shops for over $100. And that's when buying 20 pieces. If I bought 100 or 200 I could get an even better price.

I'll give you a few examples tomorrow, the sun is coming up here already and I need sleep.

The trademark owner has them produced over here because its cheaper and the factory owners don't mind selling on a few hundreds or even thousands of items to others for a fraction of the price. Its the same thing, down to the last little detail.

But obviously, if the original sells for $120 and I list it on eBay starting at $45, I get VERO'd.

Yeah your probably selling the ⊗⊗⊗⊗ copies. Like copy nokias and so forth..

Also your on a china or japan ip address, which will put your account in the hot seat with ebay

and I agree Japan electronics is not cheaper then in the US unless there knockoffs

aaa1 10-08-2007 04:45 PM

Even Akihabara ain't that cheap!

vers0 10-08-2007 09:05 PM

I'm not sure if this matters but I seem to get more VERO'd with BIN then with auctions. I think selling items for 80 (BIN) is more obvious when the item retails for 300. At least the price of an auction is out of your control. Just my opinion...

I just got a cease and desist letter, supposedly from a law firm. The letter was pdfed with the lawyer's signature, but not on the law firm's stationary. They're also asking for a money order or cashier's check for $350. Sounds like a scam to me.

Lol that definitely smells fishy.

ebaykilla 11-01-2007 12:47 PM

I would say thats a scam..disregard

I once got a cease and desist letter from Motorola for selling Vero Bluetooth earpieces. (I was new to buying and selling and actually did not know they were ⊗⊗⊗⊗) I received it express mail and my idiot neighbor signed for it. The document scare the hell out of me after reading it and wanted me to send them the remaining items with all my personal information and to sign a bunch of stuff. I took a chance and ignored the document. If has been over 7 months and nothing has happened. I think if you stop selling the item in question, most likely they will not pursue you further. If you admit to it, then I think you will be in a worse place with them. Just my opinion...

ivegotinfo 12-15-2007 11:30 AM

constant trademark violations

i keep getting these on my accounts... not suspensions, just items taken off saying unauthorized item (yes i sell vero items).
Has anyone gotten around this yet???

ebayhateluv 12-15-2007 12:05 PM

Brother, good luck with this.. Cant beat it. that Tiffany lawsuit has turned ebay upside down,,, I had to farm my high ticket items out to 4 Sellers Assts with tenure + strong fb to try to move some over the Holidays.. I cant do it on a 60-90 day acct with few fb.
Some people saying about html magic, but I do not understand that.. I think it was imjustme, that knows a few tricks, maybe contact him... Good Luck

ivegotinfo 12-15-2007 01:11 PM

gahh thanks. :(
im thinking of having like 5 accounts, just list 1 cent items on them in my ebay store, and get to a few thousand feedback. then try selling high end items.
I checked out lots of different categories and i see that sellers that have over a few thousand feedback are selling constantly vero items with no probs. and i really dont think they can get access to hundreds of different brand name items legally....

.i made an account a few months back, sold around 10 high vero items, all went through, got all positive feedback, now after a month cool down on that account, i list again... and bam.

same with my powerseller account.. :(

i'm thinking now it will be less trouble of making new ebay accounts (since its not that hard), but actually listing and selling high priced items. This will be the new battle.

sycore 12-15-2007 02:06 PM

Yeah, I get around most VERO by putting very general title description. Best to copy a powerseller selling same item. Be as general as you can with still getting people to you auction. Then use HTML to hide trademark in product description.

<font face="arial" size="3">MICK</font><font face="arial" size="3">EY MO</font><font face="arial" size="3">USE</font>

That comes out as MICKEY MOUSE in product description.

Chris Hanson 12-15-2007 02:22 PM

No it wont. It will come out as MICKEY MOOUSE..LOL

ebayhateluv 12-15-2007 02:27 PM

HI- dont understand-- so you switch to html mode within ebay listing not auctiva, right? then what would be the code for
Vintage Authentic Rolex Seadweller and Dayona empty box ?
thanks
(then after this html- you switch back to nrmal mode to decribe the item? size/condition, etc?

Chris Hanson 12-15-2007 02:41 PM

just add <font face="arial" size="3"> between every 3 letters or so and put </font> at the end of the sentence

ivegotinfo 12-15-2007 04:02 PM

yeah but then you wont have the brand name in the listing title right?
so how would people come to your auction?

sycore 12-15-2007 05:49 PM

You can have a brand name in your title description, just not hot words like Rolex Watch is fine Rolex replica is a automatic Vero.

ebayhateluv 12-15-2007 06:11 PM

HI- have MANY, collectible Rolex souvenirs -- the Freebies promotional stuff that comes with the watch- i.e. the scarf, the knife, the leather pad, the pen, etc. plus- many older, one of a kind empty boxes, for the tudor, the daytona, etc. ANY time i tried to list got canned... even left out the word in title- listed as watch box-vintage--got canned-ENCOURAGING, then tried the scarf-- got canned..

Yeah, it seems they are getting a lot harder, but for every account they knock down I have five up selling different VERO. So, when one item get to hot move to the next. Just a guess on my part, but address and phone numbers on new address ar being matched to ip ranges and closely looked at.

Time to fire up the old VCCs and take out a few powersellers. My record is 115 million in sales, from the early days were you could bid forever until they banned you. Now I can only get to the 10 to 20 million range.

ebayhateluv 12-15-2007 10:40 PM

WOW- I thought $4,000/week was good,,You're a Genuis!
