Default New seller Limits - argh!

Hi All

I have recently set up an ebay shop selling baby clothes and prams etc.
I thought I would go about it as a proper business as thats what it is to me.
I registered as a business seller, had my paypal account verified and paid for a basic shop. I then spent around £1k frm wholesale on baby clothes etc.
I started listing and soon reached new seller limits. I wont bore you with the whole long story, but after several email and telephone conversations I managed to get it raised to 150 items (still not enough for what I bought).
Trouble is they dont tell you this when you start out, they just land it on you from a great height!
So is essence there really is no point opening a shop to start with as you have to be able to have 75 listings to make it pay for itself, which when you buy in multiples and have a 150 item limit, is impossible.
It got me thinking, surely Ebay arent allowed to do this? Maybe I am just being stupid, but are they not in breach of competition law?
Because it makes it an unfair market place.
I would welcome any thoughts and whether the arguement is worth having with Ebay - has anyone tried????

Welcome to the forums. Nice work at least on getting the limits raised. Easiest way of dealing with this is to go around it and set up multiple stealth accounts.

Read around the forums and you will understand about stealth. eb ay stealth guide is also full of solid info. All the best.

Hi Imakemoney

My account is a real account. Im not too sure what stealth ones are yet!?!
I will have a look around the forums and try figuring it our.
However after a bit of research I think I might try and run amazon along side my ebay, as there are no restrictions on the amount you sell on amazon.

oo right i see, well the best way would be to spread your sales to spread the risk.
In regards making stealth accounts your best bet would be to either spending a good few days reading round the forum or buying the stealth guide. Also you could always run your stealth accounts along side your real legit one.
And yes amazon is also a good money maker for me too!
If theres anything i can help you with dont hesistate to PM me :D

There are some limits for when you start off selling. Within the first 28 days you cannot sell over $750 or your account will be reviewed!

I agree, read eBay Stealth and when you are done reading it, read it again! Read it until it makes perfect sense so you can understand why Ebay/PP are doing the things they are and how. You will eventually anyways, so might as well do it now before you HAVE to. This way you will know how to do things the first time and hopefully can avoid that wonderful suspension email everyone seems to get eventually. Some (me) many more times than once! haha. Everyone is super nice here and very helpful and smart. Good place to be!!

Clarey- Do yourself a favor and get the ebay stealth guide and also Amazon Ghost. If you go to order the stealth guide it will get you a discount on ghost. Once you do this everything will start to make since and you will be able to follow along in the forums. Plus you wouldn't want something stupid to happen to your main ebay account with all that inventory and all the sudden your stuck with no way to sell.
Take a few minutes and see if you can find some bad reviews on eBay Stealth or Amazon Ghost. Here is a hint, you won't find any.
