Ebay Vetting Department killed my account

Yesterday I called Ebay to ask them increase my account limit instead of them helping me out they band me and took down all my listing. They asked me where I am buying my items as soon as I told them they band my account. I need help this is the only income I have, since they don’t like my supplier should I make up invoices? Would that work? Can they verify the invoices?

I forgot to add this to my original post... they told me for them to unsuspended my account they want to see invoices.

JamesNorth101 04-29-2013 12:18 PM

How old was the account when you phoned them to ask to increase your limits? Ringing EB is something to be avoided at all costs.

Only thing to do IMO is to send them the invoices, see if they release your account, if not, go stealth, if your not already, with several separate accounts and slowly build them all up.

reen3 04-29-2013 12:30 PM

I had this account since 2001 with 220 feedbacks only 4 negative ones

dallasreed 04-29-2013 12:31 PM

Should have told them you just sell junk around the house. Mentioning a supplier opens you up to further questioning as you have found out.

reen3 04-29-2013 12:36 PM

I know I didn't know, otherwise I would of told them something different. please tell me would they verify invoices? is it better to make an invoice for a supplier in the US or out of country?

imjustme 04-29-2013 02:12 PM

Said it before a million times, will say it now and will say it a billion times in the future:

- Never call eBay for anything, ever.

reen3 04-29-2013 02:18 PM

the damage has already been done to my account, if anyone has experienced this issue help a family out.

rsot 04-29-2013 02:22 PM

Definitely better for invoices from within your country as opposed to random sources.

As for ringing up eB, many posts on the forums that indicate it's a hit-or-miss affair. I wouldnt have called them up - just make more stealth accounts.

As for the longetivity of the account, yes you have had it since 2001 but when did it BEGIN selling?

reen3 04-29-2013 02:30 PM

the account has been selling since 2001 off and on... from the last 4 month my selling has tremendously increased.

trust me I will not call them again for anything I learned my lesson.

KawiSix 04-29-2013 04:18 PM

not to highjack but if they just suspended your selling, not the whole account because they want you to send in invoices....will they eventually lift this selling restriction??? Or should I just leave the account to the trash???

reen3 04-29-2013 05:14 PM

What do you guys think if I provide a out of country invoice what are the chances if they accept it? I think its better to provide a invoice that is out of country because they cant verify it. give me your thoughts, I want my freaking account back.

igotsuspended 04-29-2013 05:32 PM

I don't think they have enough time to validate your invoice.

Depends on what you meant by "validate".

Although companies do not give out customer info because that's agains the law, Paypal can however, check if the company is a legitimate one. Some may provide a bit more information for Paypal such as telling them whether if the order actually matches what is written on the invoice or not.

Long story short, Paypal do much more with the invoice than just look at it.

The problem I have is with Ebay not paypal

stanislav 04-29-2013 08:15 PM

I have been calling eBay many times before to increase my limits and for the most part I never encountered problems however when I did encounter they were fixed. I guess like someone said it's hit and miss but don't let this discourage you. It all depends on what you sell, where you get it , how good is your feedback and what does it say on your negative feedback (if you have). If you seem legit there is no reason for eBay not to increase your limits. In fact eBay is interested to help you to sell more. Selling more is not a crime but selling legit items is what eBay wants you to do. If you sell risky items then expect them to be wary.

I'd provide Invoices from a major e-tailer in the US.

Meanwhile start making stealth accounts, if you haven't already done so.

30$ phone + minutes, 10$ VCC, 10$ VBA. So you are looking at approx. 50$ or less for a new stealth account.

The book gives you the concepts. The forums add to these concepts with new info and informed discussions.

Changing your IP depends on your access to the Net - e.g. dongle, modem, phone tethering, dial-up, etc.

So sorry to inform you that in my experience you will not get you account back. Almost same thing happened to me as OP. OP, Read the guide & this forum for a week or 2 and then go stealth.

stanislav 05-05-2013 02:38 PM

I've dealt with vetting department before and they reduced my 300 items per month to only 50.

They first wanted to limit me in a Category but I begged them not to so because I had an amazingly clean record they reduced it to 50.

Anyways now I got 110 items.

rsot 05-06-2013 01:34 PM

Reduction from 300 to 50 is hardly a successful call - and now up to 110...well at least on the rise.

I dont call for the limit increase.

HurricaneHuntr 05-07-2013 09:35 AM

I have one account which has a limit of 50 auctions and 1600$ and it's permanently stuck at that, who cares? I don't. I have enough accounts. I am not worried about avoiding the taxes, in july i gotta pay them 10k! to the irs. So i mean, the only reason to increase your amounts over 1600$ a month is if you put an EIN on paypal. Otherwise do the match 19k dividing by 200 and you'll figure out how much to sell per month.Notice i said 19k, because at 19k NO MATTER WHAT paypal limits you. They can do it before 19k. if they think you'll go over eg.. selling 400 penny items in 2 months on ebay=limit.

Learned my lesson there... trust me.
