Default Log in from a new computer

Hi

I have a bunch of old eBay and PayPal accounts that are requesting an SMS when I log in - I don't have the phone numbers for those accounts

I have a lot of accounts, and I'd rather not go through the rigmarole of contacting PP and Ebay for each one and changing my number each time

The reason for SMS triggering is that I have a new laptop because I am "logging in from a new computer"

Does anyone know exactly what information they use to determine what the computer actually is? Because it's a pretty cheap laptop these days I might just buy the exact same one.

Thanks

There are a number of factors used to determine your web browser fingerprint, one of the few which many people do not know is the amount and type of fonts on your computer, the fingerprint can show cpu type, memory, screen size and color depth. They can only see if the fingerprint is unique.

So if I buy the exact same laptop then I should be ok then?

I have made some new seller accounts recently in different user accounts on my PC, and they haven't been banned yet.

last night,I logged into my Ebay account, same browser ,same computer and Ebay wants me to type in my password ,the reason is I am using a new computer, which is not so.
Could it be I erased all the cookies in my computer?
If Ebay cant find its cookie in my computer,it is assuming I am using a new computer?

I'm 100% sure it won't help.

Even components within a machine have unique ID's. In any event, the fingerprint is, as you say, primarily driven by the browser and cookie and also Windows installation info. There is absolutely no way on earth you can replicate another machines fingerprint.

I also suspect that once you've triggered the SMS message it ain't going away even if you used the original machine.

I suppose it would depend on how much information apart from the actual browser that they use.

If they are creating such in-depth fingerprints, then why is it possible to make numerous accounts on one computer?

The SMS verification would likely disappear if I used my old laptop, unfortunately it is in pieces and getting it fixed would be expensive.

What are you talking about?

I'm trying to get access to valuable accounts, I don't need advice with a business plan.

sorry,I just read your post again,my mistake.
But sometimes you can be using the same computer but still get the message you are using a new computer.
In my case,I am using the same computer and the same browser (Chrime) but I get this message and ask me to sign in with password, and send me a verification code.
