I've had a few accounts in the last ten years and it's always a huge drag! I just got a new one off of a girl I've been dating, however, I think I logged onto her paypal and ebay acct with my old IP and changed some info. I didn't list any auctions, but I fear I may have blown my cover. This was a week ago and I haven't listed anything yet. The problem is that I have a dynamic IP address, and I THOUGHT I was changing it by unplugging my modem and restarting my computer. Like a DORK I didn't check it and today I was going to do some more work and get rolling and just for fun I checked my IP and tried to change it! I couldn't change it using the old methods (like the dos config method, or anything else) and after SEVERAL hours on the phone I found out that the dynamic IP changed from the old system and now the only way for me to get a new IP is to disconnect for 8 hours or so. So is my goose cooked? Should I have my girlfriend call up Ebay and say that she may have used a computer that may have been used by a former user? Any clues as to what I should do in this situation?? I only logged on to change phone #'s and addresses on paypal an Ebay... but I reckon that would be enough... but maybe the accts are linked if you don't try to sell?? I appreciate any info on this, thanks!

So I am currently live and work in china, but I have account that I created under US address. I decided to test security of ebay, so I logged in into my friend's ebay account and listed an item, ebay later sent a message to his account saying that someone has accessed his account so they automatically removed the listing, I used TOR and a VPN at the same time, so these 2 won't help it seems, because they cannot see your location at all and they get suspicious.
Just using VPN, should be safe right?? for me , if like I said I am in China, and my account is created under us address ,los angeles, and the VPN has a option to choose los angeles address, so that should be fine , right?

To tenggo,in that case the VPN is a one of way to do that.

1) Always create an address that matches the city the Ip address is in.
2) Never use free proxies as they are unpredictable. Use VPN's or VPS or Free wifi around your city.
3) Always clear all your cookies. I use 6 accounts from the same Ip for over a month by just making sure all my cookies are cleared from each account. I also use different User accounts for each.
4) Unless you are listing something then there is no reason to login to Ebay. Check you email for all the information. Use a third party listing tool to list on Ebay so they do not track you through IP or Cookies.
5) On a new Ebay Account do not list in hot categories including cellphones, laptops, giftcards etc.

Remember in a household your father, you and your brother can each have a ebay account or even in a building complex where everbody has the same iP. As long as the each ebay account is seperate from another and the the cookies do not catch it then you have a better chance.
Ofcourse there is a high risk that you will get linked but sometimes you have to take that chance.
My accounts do get linked everynow and then.

Then you are setting yourself up for problems.
Should you really be in the USA, and I have no desire to argure the point, you have many other choices.
These VPNs, VPS, are not going to work long term.
Why? Because 99.9999999% of users from other countries hell bent on pretending to be in the USA are using them and being detected. That makes problems for all users considering this (lazy) option

So, if VPN and VPS does not work, perhaps a dedicated server will do the trick? I live outside the US and want to use a US Ebay account but I'm afraid login with my IP address.

I've been on VPN for along time with my eBay/PayPal account and so far no problems here. I plan on setting up a second account easy.

I use Mask surf pro any time I want to download a torrent, It completly disables mozilla but Chrome still works, I usually get an IP in europe somewhere so I've never had a problem with my internet provider for downloading material, But I would imagine if ebay see's an american account one day logging in from amsterdam it would raise flags.
I am having major problems with my provider now I HAVE A MODEM/WIRELESS devise not a router but a wireless modem, They wont let me have the log in info. and the IP on the Modem is basically static. I could really use some high tech info on how to fix this because now I have to pay for my internet & pay for an At&t wireless hotspot to change my ip address If someone out there could really find a solution to help me I'd be willing to pay if it works. These Internet providers SUCK!!!

I have a similar problem. I use a VPN (private tunnel) for downloading torrents but turn it off for logging into eBay. I was thinking of writing to eBay and making them aware of the fact I need to use a VPN and if there was going to be any problems using it on ebay, rather tell them so they don't flag me?
Thoughts??

You'll either have to change your current ip address, use dialup, use a wifi connection, VPN, AOL Proxy, and probably a few other options, but ip maskers don't work. | Does a public wifi (say at a Starbucks) enable EB/PP to see the general area you're logging in from? I ask b/c the guy on here who sold me the Stealth put the address in a US state thats like 3000 miles away from me.

I use HMA Pro. It allows me to select the city, state, country and several hub locations per city. I have not noticed any negative reaction from ebay, at least not yet.

I've used anonymous-proxies.net, for two Ebay accounts. I paid for them, they were private, virgin proxies. I only used proxies because I needed to appear in a particular location. I didn't use either account extensively, but I can at least affirm that I could bid on dozens of auctions with either account, and I verified one of the accounts with entropay.
Before setting up the Ebay accounts, I was sure to check at whatismyipaddress.com, IPBurger.com, and ipmarker.com, to be sure no proxy was "detected."
