| aspkin | 06-21-2008 12:54 AM | Was your Paypal account verified and or confirmed?
Paypal doesn't like proxies so much, but AOL might be an exception like it is for eBay. Also your transactions were for less then $500, so it's wasn't a cause for alarm.
Paypal works with eBay, many people on this forum use Paypal and eBay successfully together. |
Anyone Using TOR ? Does it help w/ IP addresses? What exactly does TOR do?
And does it help hide your IP address?
any help (pros/cons) would be greatly appreciated! |
| Kleidis | 06-25-2008 07:34 AM | Tor does indeed hide your IP, by routing your incoming and
outgoing data packets through the Tor network, the IP
shown to ebay and the outside world, will be that of
whichever tor exit node is used. You can manually
edit the config files to force a specific exit node in
a location of your choosing.
However, I would be very surprised if most of tors
exit nodes aren't blacklisted by ebay, due to people using
it for the same purpose as yourself. :D |

Yes it does but for some really weird reason epay has serious problems when you login into them one day from Lyons France, the next day from Phuket Thailand, the next day from Seoul, Korea and the next day from Lima, Peru. :) Dunno why they think that is strange since I own my own Gulfstream.
TOR hides your IP but it gives you IPs from all over the world, not good if you wish to avoid epay suspensions/red flags.
They prefer to see the same IP login info all the time or else their overprotective automated bot security software will have a heart attack and flag you for review/auto-suspension.
About 9 years ago I logged into paypal from Chiang Mai, Thailand and that really blew a serious paypal fuse. My account was frozen and so was my debit card. They said so sorry but just as soon as you return home fax us over the needed info. I said well what am I supposed to do for money right now?? They said basically that's your problem. Lucky I always have good backups in AE travelers checks.

wow thanks -sheesh.
I guess I should get the stealth book. |
| HairyOldEbayer | 06-25-2008 07:59 AM | Grab a copy of AOL 7.0 here, create a new aol email account from the main page of aol.com and you are good to go via the aol proxy. America Online - OldVersion.com
Or just get a cheap 9.95 a month dialup service.
. |
still, when i surf from mozilla, my ip address will be the same --yes? |
| HairyOldEbayer | 06-25-2008 08:35 AM | Mozilla will show one IP. The one from your cable modem, dsl or dialup.
AOL 7 will show another different IP. The AOL proxy IP. It will run inside it's own little AOL window.

thank you for your help sir.
so, i download aol7, and use the aol 7 browser, then it's safe?
sorry for all the questions |
| HairyOldEbayer | 06-25-2008 09:48 AM | Yes, using AOl you will get a new IP. I verify the IP address is different using ipburger.com
I've registered several accounts so far and no problems knock on wood.

. thanx again pal.
so it seems, get a new ebay acct thru aol, get a new pp acct (thru aol) with a new bank acct, and let the new ebay acct 'season' with small items etc.
what am i missing? |
. where is the aol registration # I need? |
. it looks like u have to pay for aol :( |
| HairyOldEbayer | 06-25-2008 09:12 PM | |
. you have been a great help!
I will try that later today. |
. should i make it an admin acct? or limited?
if it's admin - will it link to the original windows user acct? |
. It worked!
Step#1 done!
Now, let me get this strait:
Get a new ebay acct using aol -- can i use my same name that ebay already knows? Or should I make up one?
Get a po box -- use that for my new pp acct?
My pp acct will have to have my real name -- rite?
Get a new bank acct -- I will be using my same name -- is that ok?
ebay and pp already have my name and address on file -- thoughts? |
