99% of ip maskers don't work and eBay & Paypal hate them...
You'll either have to change your current ip address, use dialup, use a wifi connection, VPN, AOL Proxy, and probably a few other options, but ip maskers don't work.

Activity: 0% Longevity: 91% | | changing ip address
hi
ive got everything figured out, except ip change, my boyfriend will NOT let me touch his modem (not a euphemism) or call broadband to change address in case it mucks up his work activities or something goes wrong... so ive looked at proxy servers any experience out there, noted some forums say thy
are not good as e-bay picks them up as being in common use, also need to tally up to your approx location.
thought about buying cheap laptop but not very technical and arent wireless
subscriptions pricey and get tied into contract, anyway any suggestions, also can one use an 0845 number for phone verification, i notices you can buy them cheap and they sit on you existing line.
anyway proxy servers, anyone??

The best thing I am using is changing my mac address. I save them to every particular account so i have the same IP address with each account.

There is no proof for anything. eBay is like acts of god. They can hit at any time, anyone. Just like a lightning strike or a tornado, they can hit you but not your neighbor.

well, for someone to come on here and say AOL will get you banned is very alarming.
sometimes I wish this forum was totally membership only.

I've heard about that too, but nothing is proven. Only eBay knows why they ban you and they won't tell you. So all we have is speculation.

I tried it last week, it let me register, I waited a few days to get my paypal verified first, as soon as I listed my first item, I got suspended. Happened to another person here recently too. I can safely say it IS proven.

HI Folks:
IM Probably more of a Glutton for Punishment than Most folks..
Ive experimented with loosing 30-40 accts back in January of this year..
I can tell you MY OWN experience:
a.) I got suspended using Gmail, Hotmail, AOl Mail, even yahoo mail
b.) I got suspended while using Verizon DSL, while using Comcast Cable
c.) Ive been suspended while using AOL -but not nearly as much as via direct cable/dsl i.p.
d.) MY Golden accts-that i am very careful with--have been up/stayed up ever since I came to this forum last year... Most of them are Power Seller accts today
>>One thing about Aspkin--if he doesnt have the answer right then and there (which is rare)--he will get you a workable answer

No I have made many accounts and theyre all fine. The ones that have been suspended I found out the reasons. The AOL suspension was due to "We are unable to verify your information". Maybe it works for americans still, someone else will have to try it.

I had problems with one account but I am 100% certain that it had nothing to do with the AOL aspect.
But just when you think that you have it figured out ebay goes ahead and changes the rules.

Let me clear this up for you guys. Vtunnel.com, this site is free and supports https logins and other secure connections where passwords and usernames are needed. This site changes your ip address everytime and you can log in to ebay without being linked or do your shill bidding if needed. The only problem is if you use it often eBay will send you an third party authorized your account warning because of changing ip's all the time.

HI Mr. Blue--its all in your ebook! (thank goodness)!
Be careful with the masker--ebay does not like them..

If your using Bt Hub, you don't need an IP masker... and as advised already, they're not reliable.......

Re; your repeated shutdown, I have heard of people using "cloak" software like Ultrasurf - this slows the PC down but allows you to operate online without snoopers causing problems, and I'm guessing that means it hides the PC's origins...?

my point sort of on that was if people were just making accounts to do shill bidding once or twice and then throw away then the proxy thing would be a good idea for that scenario because it would keep you safe. Also, I don't recommend going through any proxy to login to any type of important account of any kind for your information can be intercepted so once again it should probably be used only for accounts you don't mind losing or of no value.

Activity: 0% Longevity: 92% | | VPN have proven to be OK
Although I got suspended using a proxy, I have since discovered that using a legitimate VPN is O.K. I use Reliable Hosting, and have two eBay accounts using two different VPN addresses. No problems since April 2008.
Yes, they cost $14.95 per month each, but since I sell over $5k per month, it's a cheap cost of doing business.
It would not serve eBay well to deny VPN access; virtually every corporate laptop connects its' traveling or out of the office employees via a VPN. Some companies use their own VPN, others use third-party VPN such as Reliable. I can't imagine that eBay is going to cut off thousands if not hundreds of thousands of well-heeled corporate users from accessing eBay while they travel or use their company computer at home or from a hotel room.
Another population of VPN users are those in China, who use a VPN to gain access to eBay that would otherwise be denied them. From their published stats, Reliable Hosting alone has tens of thousands of users from mainland China. How many are accessing eBay? Probably quite a few.
BTW, the IP address using a VPN such as Reliable shows up not as a proxy, but as a highly secure private network, based in the US.
