From what I've been reading, the more experienced people advise against using a proxy, as ebay don't like it and find it suspicious. I think the best alternative is to use dialup when you actually need to log in to you're account which shouldn't be much time at all.

^ yep, dialup is the best method.

1. its 1 low price per month and you get multiple dial-in numbers (therefore multiple ip ranges)
2. you dont have to leave your house and rely on someone elses proxy.
3. ip range stays the same, doesent jump around, more respect from ebay/paypal

if you can get a fully 100% anonymous proxy that has the same IP forever, is really reliable, and costs less than 2$ a month, go ahead.... also let me know if you do, till then im sticking with good old 56k

Here is my confusion? Why is there talk of proxies? I thought it had been pointed
out that proxies are poxy and there are other ways to disguise IPs?

I have run proxies both free & paid.
It appears most proxy services have only about 10 - 100 or so ip addresses.
For everyone.

Ebay will generally let you register a account with a ip. proxy (Yes)
they know it's a proxy.
Generally you will be asked for a credit card when registering with a proxy.

The bigger problem comes in when you try to list using a proxy.
Being most proxy services are limited in their ip. addresses and I guess most
have already been black balled at ebay, if you don't reveal a real ip. they
will suspend your account shortly after you begin listing.
Within a few days at best.

What I like doing is using a high speed paid proxy for checking on accounts,
items etc. when I am not logged in.

However, I use a dial up to change my ip. when I log in.
Not only do dial ups give you a different legit ip. each and every time but
you can dial up any area coming from where ever you want.

and yes, their are dial ups out their who will mask your real address from a distance away
and even block pinging back to your computer.

Question Can someone explain Webproxy servers?

I'm curious about using these Proxy servers but have a few questions hopefully someone can answer. Are you given a different IP address every time you use these servers or are you assigned a specific IP when you join? Also if anyone could suggest a site w/ a low cost, I would really appreciate it. You have all been very helpful w/ past issues. Thanks.

Default Well...

I'm not sure how proxys works...but I was using my Australian eBay account while I was living in France for 3 years. I opened up various ebay accounts in France that got suspended and they never linked my french account back to my Australian account so I never got suspended on my Australian account! I was using Wireless DSL Modem.

I came back to Australia though and I was still using another French account, and they suspended my french account and all my Australian accounts.

There must be different laws in the EU on how they look up your IP address and proxys, ect...

nice thread on proxies... well ive been dabbling into proxies and yes its hard to find good services even paid ones that work well, some proxies dont wont very well when it comes to certain websites.

ive been trialing TOR services with privoxy installed and running.

has anyone else had any experience with it ?

ive managed to do a IPLOCATOR check that modee thankfully gave and yes it does come up with a FALSE in PROXY ? however it still gives a location like country, origin, state, etc..etc...

Another program i was considering using was PROXY SWITCHER mentioned before, im not fussed if i have to pay for it, im well aware that using a proxy from another country can get you banned eg. proxy is for GERMANY but your in AUSTRALIA, however i believe PROXY SWITCHER allows you to choose a proxy and keep changing to a proxy in your country.

wouldnt this not give red flags on ebay if your ip changes, BUT its always located in the same country ?

cheers.

Default About VPN.

When I read eBay Stealth and search in this forum, I see people talking about VPN. And I want to know is there anyone using VPN to hide IP ? And your account is running good?

Default VPN Sounds Clever, but I don't understand it fully...

I know it is for security purposes like a proxy. EBAY is down on proxies and have figured them out. Any account coming in on most of the free or cheap proxies out there are taken down on EBAY. They no like.

Now, if a VPN could vary the IP like dial-up so that EBAY could not pin it down, that could work, especially if the IP could be moved about the country, so people could be from wherever they want to be.

This is an excellent question, and a great new thread/idea. Would love to hear more.

HELP! I am new here.
Earlier this evening I was reading some post (from today?) about AOL no longer being proxy. I went away to check mine, and YES the AOL IS GIVING THE TRUE IP AT IPBurger!.
Now I can't find that thread.

Can someone guide me to it?
Thanks, Steve

Proxies is a bad idea for ebay, why? Because you need elite proxies (anonymous proxies) and all proxies have the port address which is generally "80/8080/3128/8888" eBay can see this and also the proxy Header and then redflag the account. If you can remove these (which it is possible) then eBay/Paypal cannot tell if you are from a proxy or not :P

example would be:
24.118.182.97:9656
81.155.146.78:33056

you can do a whois check on both of these and they are from REAL ISP in the UK, the beauty of these proxies is that they dont use common ports as I mentioned.

Default Check this out if you use a proxy...

even AOL.com broadband.

Check IP address. IP check. Find IP address. IP finder. Java IP Test. Static IP address. Hide ip address. Change IP address. Changing IP address. Anonymous IP address.

It sees right through the proxy.
